Information about Nepal

Nepal tourism is extremely diverse in nature.

On one hand, there are the exotic mountain trekking trails and the majestic, snow crests of the mighty Himalayas. On the other hand, there is the rich cultural heritage of the Newari people. Then again, there is wilderness in Chitwan and excitement in the Bhote Koshi River. The opportunities to enjoy oneself in Nepal are way too many. Before making the trip, or even before deciding on the itinerary, one should consult a Nepal travel guide to know everything there is to know about tourism in the country. The best places to visit, the best activities to do, the best shopping places, honeymoon destinations and romantic getaways and of course, the best trekking trails to explore.

Here is some more information about Nepal before you make your trip to the country.

Weather in Nepal: Nepal enjoys a subtropical climate, but the weather conditions and temperature vary according to the altitude. The latitudinal expanse of the country is very minimal. This, all the changes are brought about by the difference in altitude. In the lower valleys and plains, summers are warm and humid, rainfalls are heavy, and winters are pleasantly mild. In the higher altitudes along the mountain ranges, the climate is arctic. Summers are cool; monsoon sees snowfall and winters are bone-chilling cold.

Nightlife in Nepal: Most of Nepal’s nightlife is centred on its capital city Kathmandu. Youth mostly prefer to go clubbing and drinking in the many bars in Kathmandu. Sam’s Bar, Tom and Jerry’s have made a name for them for good service and live music. Rum Doodle is a place where every Everest climber came to drink a pint after the victory, including Edmund Hillary. Casinos like Casino Royale and Casino Everest are top-notch places to spend the night and do some gambling as well. Night-time shopping can be done in the ever-buzzing Thamel district. See Nepal vacation guide to find more places for nightlife scene in Nepal.

Food in Nepal: Food in Nepal is a lovely combination of Indian, Newari and Tibetan flavours. Dishes like thukpa, momo, noodles are very popular here, thanks to their Tibetan origin. Chatamari – a food item that looks like pizza is a popular Newari recipe. Another one is Sandheko, which is basically a bar snack of peanuts or potatoes stirred in chillies, spices, onions and coriander. Masu dishes or spicy curries of chicken, pork and lamb are popular too.

Shopping in Nepal: When you go shopping, consult a Nepal tour guide to show you the best places to buy things. Do not get cheated by hiked prices or fake products. Thamel is the perfect place to go shopping. It has everything under one roof or rather in one area since it is an open market. Handicraft items, metal works, silver jewellery, curio shops, handmade papers, hand woven pashmina, wood carvings and Tibetan thangkas and khukris are some of the best things to buy from Nepal.

Festivals in Nepal: Being home to both Hinduism and Buddhism, Nepal is home to a number of festivals all around the year. Dashain and Tihar are celebrated with much fervour since these two are the most popular festivals of the Hindus. Buddhists celebrate Buddha Jayanti. Teej is a local festival celebrated by the women of Nepal. Gai Jatra, Indra Jatra, Fagun Purnima or Holi and Losar are also observed here with bright colours and brighter spirits.

Aravind's 8 days trip to Nepal

The coordinator did a great job overall but could have been more attentive. There was some confusion with the itinerary, but it was managed well. Hotels (Ama la - Thamel, Kathmandu ; Tuki resort, Pokhara ; De Purang, Muktinath ; Rain forest, Chitwan) all were good. The food was best in Chitwan. Thanks for the great memories - Amit. Good job.

Arulak's 8 days trip to Nepal

Travel agents in some places provide lower categories of hotels even though better accommodation available. Picking up at the airport should be rightly maintained. Also the facilities available in any place of visit to be rightly mentioned in the program. The trip was wonderful journey with a friendly Driver cum Guide Mr Balaram. He satisfied all our needs and queries.

Vagesh's 5 days trip to Nepal

Overall things were planned fine. Just had hiccups when our force traveller developed some issues and had problematic travel to Pokhara without air conditioning on which annoyed the travellers. On next days however , they managed to provide an alternative vehicle to avoid facing the issue again. Mankamna temple gondola ride

Guptaankita's 6 days trip to Nepal

Big thanks to MD Adventure travel and tours and especially to Shabu who went above and beyond her role, for making our Nepal trip super smooth and stress-free! She was always just a call away—even on the eve of the Nepali New Year. She welcomed us at the airport with a big smile and handled everything so well, even when rain messed up our itinerary. Really appreciate her support and flexibility throughout the trip! If u are planning a trip to nepal do it through them. Highly recommended.

Bedanta's 6 days trip to Nepal

Every thing is well organised. Driver niranjan is very humble and helpful. Always on time. Hotels are good, clean and food is also good. Hotel shangrila nagarkot is spacious with a great view of the mountain and sunrise can be seen from the bed itself . Hotel lake paradise is overall good but all electric sockets are non functional in both the rooms but extension board was arranged by the hotel staff which is great help. All the hotels are clean staff are helpful. Hotel Taleju in kathmandu is good. Car given to us is actually a chinese made electric van which they called a luxury van with no view of outside and poor suspension. It requires charging twice on route to Pokhara and Kathmandu. Power cut in charging station is frequent and long queue makes it a very impractical vehicle for tourists who visit for leisure. Driver tried his best to keep us comfortable during the journey. Owner of the agency get offended when I compared the Chinese van with Maruti eco. But actually the van is poor in suspension then eco and cant see anything outside. According to them if the seats are reclining it comes under luxury category.. actually its not their fault the agency already sent the pictures of the vehicle at the time of booking but I mistook it by its look with the luxury tourist van that are used in other South East Asian countries. These vehicles may be a good option only after the highway construction and is completed.

Sprahlad's 7 days trip to Nepal

Hotels booked were unaware about accommodation to be provided. They tried to allot 3 rooms instead of 2 rooms with extra bed in one.Agency should be able to accept changes in itinerary. Road from Nagarkot to Lumbini was very bad.
