Information about Nepal

Nepal tourism is extremely diverse in nature.

On one hand, there are the exotic mountain trekking trails and the majestic, snow crests of the mighty Himalayas. On the other hand, there is the rich cultural heritage of the Newari people. Then again, there is wilderness in Chitwan and excitement in the Bhote Koshi River. The opportunities to enjoy oneself in Nepal are way too many. Before making the trip, or even before deciding on the itinerary, one should consult a Nepal travel guide to know everything there is to know about tourism in the country. The best places to visit, the best activities to do, the best shopping places, honeymoon destinations and romantic getaways and of course, the best trekking trails to explore.

Here is some more information about Nepal before you make your trip to the country.

Weather in Nepal: Nepal enjoys a subtropical climate, but the weather conditions and temperature vary according to the altitude. The latitudinal expanse of the country is very minimal. This, all the changes are brought about by the difference in altitude. In the lower valleys and plains, summers are warm and humid, rainfalls are heavy, and winters are pleasantly mild. In the higher altitudes along the mountain ranges, the climate is arctic. Summers are cool; monsoon sees snowfall and winters are bone-chilling cold.

Nightlife in Nepal: Most of Nepal’s nightlife is centred on its capital city Kathmandu. Youth mostly prefer to go clubbing and drinking in the many bars in Kathmandu. Sam’s Bar, Tom and Jerry’s have made a name for them for good service and live music. Rum Doodle is a place where every Everest climber came to drink a pint after the victory, including Edmund Hillary. Casinos like Casino Royale and Casino Everest are top-notch places to spend the night and do some gambling as well. Night-time shopping can be done in the ever-buzzing Thamel district. See Nepal vacation guide to find more places for nightlife scene in Nepal.

Food in Nepal: Food in Nepal is a lovely combination of Indian, Newari and Tibetan flavours. Dishes like thukpa, momo, noodles are very popular here, thanks to their Tibetan origin. Chatamari – a food item that looks like pizza is a popular Newari recipe. Another one is Sandheko, which is basically a bar snack of peanuts or potatoes stirred in chillies, spices, onions and coriander. Masu dishes or spicy curries of chicken, pork and lamb are popular too.

Shopping in Nepal: When you go shopping, consult a Nepal tour guide to show you the best places to buy things. Do not get cheated by hiked prices or fake products. Thamel is the perfect place to go shopping. It has everything under one roof or rather in one area since it is an open market. Handicraft items, metal works, silver jewellery, curio shops, handmade papers, hand woven pashmina, wood carvings and Tibetan thangkas and khukris are some of the best things to buy from Nepal.

Festivals in Nepal: Being home to both Hinduism and Buddhism, Nepal is home to a number of festivals all around the year. Dashain and Tihar are celebrated with much fervour since these two are the most popular festivals of the Hindus. Buddhists celebrate Buddha Jayanti. Teej is a local festival celebrated by the women of Nepal. Gai Jatra, Indra Jatra, Fagun Purnima or Holi and Losar are also observed here with bright colours and brighter spirits.

Rittika's 6 days trip to Nepal

I recently traveled to Kathmandu with Kabru Adventure Holidays, and the experience was honestly seamless from start to finish. They offered us one of the best packages at the best prices, without compromising on comfort or experiences. A big shoutout to Amit, who was extremely proactive right from the planning stage - from customizing the itinerary exactly to our preferences to making sure every detail was taken care of. What really stood out was his day-to-day follow-ups during the trip. He would check in daily to see how things were going, if we were comfortable, and if we needed anything at all while we were in Nepal. That level of personal care and attention made us feel truly looked after, especially in a new country. From planning to execution, everything felt smooth and stress-free. I’d highly recommend Kabru Adventure Holidays if you’re looking for great value, thoughtful planning, and a travel experience where someone genuinely has your back.

Nishanth's 5 days trip to Nepal

We recently completed a family trip to Nepal for 6 adults and a toddler, and our experience with Amit from Kabru Adventure Holidays was outstanding. Right from the planning stage, Amit was honest, humble, patient, and extremely helpful. He customised the itinerary perfectly for elders and a toddler, answered all our questions, and even accommodated last-minute additions like the Himalayan mountain flight without any hesitation. Amit personally received us at the airport, provided a local SIM for easy communication, and stayed in touch throughout the trip. His coordination with the drivers, hotels, flights, and sightseeing arrangements was seamless. Even when we faced delays, hotel issues, or sudden closures of attractions, Amit handled everything proactively and ensured our plans continued smoothly. The hotels provided were comfortable, the vehicles were clean with courteous drivers, and the entire trip felt safe, organised, and relaxed. Small gestures—like adjusting plans on the go, fixing issues immediately, and personally seeing us off at departure—made a big difference. Overall, Amit and his team made our Nepal trip memorable, comfortable, and hassle-free. If you’re planning a trip to Nepal and need someone trustworthy and genuinely caring, we highly recommend Kabru Adventure Holidays. Thank you, Amit, for the wonderful experience!

Aravind's 8 days trip to Nepal

The coordinator did a great job overall but could have been more attentive. There was some confusion with the itinerary, but it was managed well. Hotels (Ama la - Thamel, Kathmandu ; Tuki resort, Pokhara ; De Purang, Muktinath ; Rain forest, Chitwan) all were good. The food was best in Chitwan. Thanks for the great memories - Amit. Good job.

Arulak's 8 days trip to Nepal

Travel agents in some places provide lower categories of hotels even though better accommodation available. Picking up at the airport should be rightly maintained. Also the facilities available in any place of visit to be rightly mentioned in the program. The trip was wonderful journey with a friendly Driver cum Guide Mr Balaram. He satisfied all our needs and queries.
