Travel to Almora

Perched atop Kashyap Hill, Almora does not have an airport or a railway station of its own. However, the hill station is well-connected via roadways to other nearby hill towns, including Haridwar, Mussoorie, and Nainital. Hence, if you are wondering how to reach Almora, then the best way to get there is by hiring a taxi or bus from the nearest hill station. Or, if you are coming from a far-flung area, you can either board a flight to Pantnagar Airport or a train to Kathgodam Railway Station, which are located at a distance of about 115 km and 81 km respectively; and then rent a car or taxi, or get on a bus to reach Almora.

Here’s the detailed information in regards to help you figure out how to get to Almora via each mode of transportation.

By Air

If you are traveling to Almora from a distant location, then the fastest way to get to the hill station is through a combination of a flight and taxi. You can board a flight to the nearest airport, called Pantnagar Airport, and then get a taxi or bus from there to head to Almora. Pantnagar Airport is located at a distance of around 115 km from the hill town of Almora. You can also board an international flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport, which is well-connected to the hill town via roadways.

By Train

Again, as Almora does not own a railway station, you might be pondering over how to reach Almora by train. With its proximity to Kathgodam Railway Station, which is about 81 km from the hill town, you can easily board a train to this railway station from cities like: Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata; and then hire a taxi or bus to get to Almora.

By Road

If you have a love for road journeys, and you are traveling from a North Indian city or a nearby hill town, such as Haldwani, Nainital, Mussoorie, and more; opting for roadways is probably the best way to get to Almora. There are plenty of government or private buses that connect other parts of India to the hill town. Besides that, you can also hire a taxi, or rent a car, and reach the destination while using Almora map to navigate your way without a hassle.

    Trip was customised as per our requirements. The coordination from travel agent could have been definitely better. There was a bit of lack of communication from their team. We also booked additional package of Rishikesh (9th Jan) with them outside of Travel Triangle which was highly unorganised an
    d no written confirmation on cost and inclusions. Should have booked additional package via TravelTriangle for better options.

    Rent provided in Chopta is not upto mark. No water in flush, no towel, dirty tent. Additionally, they have charged very high but on the spot same tent you get in 50%. Driver provided is also moody, depending on his mood he is driving car.

    Overall the Holiday Booking experience was above average with Travel Triangle. I would list out some concerns that we faced during our vacation. 1. Vehicle Type & Quality- We were assigned a Dezire Car which had CNG fitted inside. Because of this we were unable to keep any of our luggage inside the
    boot space. Had to keep all the Luggages on top , and every time there was rain it was inconvenience to put tarpaulin. Secondly because of CNG , every time a refilling was needed all the passengers had to step out of the vehicle which was again inconvenient and uncomfortable. 2. Guidance about the Holiday Destinations: A better guidance was needed from the Holiday planner about the choices of the places we had selected in our itinerary. We were not able to cover 2 places in our itinerary because of excessive hilly terrain throughout the route. We had to modify our trip with additional costs incurred by us. Also no refund was provided for the Hotels which we couldn't stay and for the Journey distance which was reduced.

    Tour planning was not good. Travel from one place to next place took hole day and tour planning was after reaching spot visit which never happened. Also hotel/resorts were far interior and involved off roading thus sedan car was not sufficient. Last resort Spring wood have not provided us room wit
    h extra cot. Other than that food was good. Driver behaviour was fantastic. We have enjoyed with all these negetive points also. Dhikala canter Safari with chilled winter associated with rainfall. Thank God we have the opportunity to see 3 tigers with lots of other forest animals.

    Hi trip was good The driver was good no issues. Only two disappointment one in haridwar where we lost our watch and 2nd one the hotel in nainital ambience was ok but no proper maintenance . food was also average.i would not suggest this place to anyone.
