How to reach Uttarakhand

Almora is the cultural capital of Kumaon region while the Garhwal region is centred by the state capital Dehradun. High-altitude roads, or whatever passes for it, offer thrilling experiences to out-of-state travellers. The state of Uttarakhand is easily accessible by any mode of transport: road, rail, and air. Travellers can book their choice of transport to plan their Uttarakhand holidays in advance. Looking up on how to reach Uttarakhand? Here is our detailed information:

Popular places to visit in Uttarakhand include Dehradun, Nainital, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, and Jim Corbett National Park. The state is also the site of several pilgrimage places which are thronged by thousands of devotees. Each of these destinations is well-connected with major metro cities in India.

There are two domestic airports in Uttarakhand. The Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun is located 22

kilometres from the city centre. It is served by regular nonstop flights from Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai,

and Chennai. Alliance Air, IndiGo, and Jet Airways provide commercial flights to and from Dehradun.

Pantnagar Airport (PGH) serves as a gateway to hill stations like Nainital, Ranikhet, and Almora. The

distance between Jim Corbett National Park and Pantnagar Airport is about 120 km.

Reaching Nainital or Dehradun by rail is the cheapest and perhaps the most convenient way to visit. The

train station in Kathgodam, 35 km from Nainital, is the last terminus of the North East railways.

Kathgodam train station has rail connectivity with Delhi, Dehradun, and Howrah (Kolkata). Trains to

Dehradun railway station come from Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab. Jan

Shatabdi Express, Dehradun Express, Doon Express, and Nanda Devi Express are major trains serving

Uttarakhand.

One of the main reasons to visit the hills in Uttarakhand is the joy that comes from the time spent on the

road itself. The state has more than 1,328 km of national highways and 1,543 km of state highways. The

Uttarakhand Transport Corporation runs around 1000 buses in and out of the state.

Haridwar and Rishikesh are connected to Delhi by NH 34 and NH 7 passes through Dehradun with

Badrinath. Highways 109 and 309 interlink Nainital, Almora, and Jim Corbett National Park. The

proposed Char Dham Highway will connect all four major pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. Taxi rentals

are available in all major travel destinations in Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand Packages Reviews

Abhijeet's 4 days trip to Uttarakhand

Trip was customised as per our requirements. The coordination from travel agent could have been definitely better. There was a bit of lack of communication from their team. We also booked additional package of Rishikesh (9th Jan) with them outside of Travel Triangle which was highly unorganised and no written confirmation on cost and inclusions. Should have booked additional package via TravelTriangle for better options.

Amit's 2 days trip to Uttarakhand

Rent provided in Chopta is not upto mark. No water in flush, no towel, dirty tent. Additionally, they have charged very high but on the spot same tent you get in 50%. Driver provided is also moody, depending on his mood he is driving car.

Partha's 7 days trip to Uttarakhand

Overall the Holiday Booking experience was above average with Travel Triangle. I would list out some concerns that we faced during our vacation. 1. Vehicle Type & Quality- We were assigned a Dezire Car which had CNG fitted inside. Because of this we were unable to keep any of our luggage inside the boot space. Had to keep all the Luggages on top , and every time there was rain it was inconvenience to put tarpaulin. Secondly because of CNG , every time a refilling was needed all the passengers had to step out of the vehicle which was again inconvenient and uncomfortable. 2. Guidance about the Holiday Destinations: A better guidance was needed from the Holiday planner about the choices of the places we had selected in our itinerary. We were not able to cover 2 places in our itinerary because of excessive hilly terrain throughout the route. We had to modify our trip with additional costs incurred by us. Also no refund was provided for the Hotels which we couldn't stay and for the Journey distance which was reduced.

Partha's 6 days trip to Uttarakhand

Tour planning was not good. Travel from one place to next place took hole day and tour planning was after reaching spot visit which never happened. Also hotel/resorts were far interior and involved off roading thus sedan car was not sufficient. Last resort Spring wood have not provided us room with extra cot. Other than that food was good. Driver behaviour was fantastic. We have enjoyed with all these negetive points also. Dhikala canter Safari with chilled winter associated with rainfall. Thank God we have the opportunity to see 3 tigers with lots of other forest animals.
