What to pack-
Comfortable and breathable clothes made of cotton and linen. In Egyptian temples, dressing modestly matters, so carrying a shawl or a scarf is essential. Having a charger and a universal power adapter is a must-have. Always carry Egyptian pounds and your cards with you at all times. Carry zip lock bags if you are visiting deserts and pyramids to avoid sand in your belongings. Have your passport, travel documents, and visa ready.
Visa and Immigration –
To experience Egypt tourism as an Indian, there are primarily three ways: Firstly, you need to apply for a visa from the Embassy of Egypt or the consulate of India. Secondly, you can also obtain your e-visa through the Egyptian government's portals. Lastly, there is a visa on arrival option for Indians to make the process easier.
Tips –
It’s always better to start early in the morning, as the sun is not harsh and the temples are just opening, and the tombs, such as the pyramids, have comparatively less crowd. Stay hydrated at all times and try to carry a small water bottle with you, as the weather is hot and humid. Also, avoid tap water. Fridays are generally very slow in Egypt, as the day is considered holy, and some places open late or remain closed. For connectivity and Wi-Fi, ensure you use Egyptian Vodafone, as it's known to have good coverage. In major touristy cities, traffic can be a lot, at crossroads, in a big group or ask locals for help.

By Air
Cairo and Luxor are the two main airports in Egypt, with Aswan, Alexandria and Sharm el-Sheikh as close runner-ups. Sharm el-Sheikh is mostly visited directly by those interested in a vacation in Red Sea. However, Cairo Airport boasts most of the airlines operating flights to and from India. All the major Indian cities with airports have frequent flights to Cairo. Flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata to Egypt are very common. The fastest flight to Egypt is from Mumbai. This is the only nonstop flight to Cairo from Mumbai and it runs three days a week – Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The flight takes around 6 hours 40 minutes and is operated by Egyptair. The next best option to go to Egypt by air is the one-stop flight from Delhi by Kuwait Airways and Egypt Air via Kuwait City, which takes around 8 hours. From Chennai there are many one-stop flights as well.
By Train
There are no feasible ways to go from India to Egypt by train. But inside the country, Egyptian Railways are very easy to travel in from one city to another. Cairo to Alexandria is the most common line, but there are trains to Luxor, Suez, Port Said and Aswan as well. The scenery, dotted with palms and fields and sometimes the Nile, is beautiful, to say the least.
By Road
If you look at the Egypt map, you can see it is located right at the border of Asia, over-pouring a little bit onto the part called Middle-East. So it can be said that theoretically, Egypt can be driven to from India. But the distance of the Egypt route by road from India is nearly 4500 kilometres. The route goes from India through Pakistan, Iran, Iraq and parts of Jordan and Israel to reach Egypt. Given the geographical as well as a socio-political scenario, that is not the best option to go for. You will need way too many permission and documents to pass through that many borders, and the journey will not be quite as comfortable. However, if you are already travelling in Israel or Jordan, there are ways to go to Egypt by bus. Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Amman have bus services to Cairo.
