Spanning over 161 hectares, this park opened for public for the first time in 1876. Howard had purchased land in the city back in 1837 for his sheep farm. In 1854 when the railway came to the south of his establishment, he sold a strip of land to the Hamilton and Toronto Railway Company (Great Western Railway). After working as a professional engineer, architect and land surveyor to the city of Toronto, Howard and his wife decided to retire here and agreed to convey their land to the city, provided that they agree to certain conditions.

Other than this, the park also offers a tennis court, picnic areas, nature trails for hiking, sports fields and pools for sporting activities. Another attraction is the trackless train, which is a tractor decorated to look like a train. It operates from spring to fall and offers everyone a tour of the park under 30 minutes.
