He did this by distributing water to the victims from the tank. That water tank exists till date inside the gurdwara. It is believed to possess medicinal values. The Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, was a resident at the bungalow in the year 1664. In the very same year, smallpox broke out as an epidemic. This was a crucial time when Guru Har Krishan volunteered to save the people from suffering. He provided them with aid and water freshly drawn from the well. But he contracted the disease and eventually passed away on 30 March 1664. Later, a small tank was built over the well by Raja Jai Singh . The water is believed to have healing properties and is consumed by every believer of the religion
