History of Bangla Sahib Gurudwara
Bangla Sahib Gurudwara history traces back to the 17th century. During that time, the gurdwara was the palace of Raja Jai Singh. It is believed that in the year 1664 when smallpox broke out, Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, the eighth Sikh Guru, who came to visit the King offered to heal the people. He did this by distributing water to the victims from the tank. That water tank exists till date inside the gurdwara. It is believed to possess medicinal values. The Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, was a resident at the bungalow in the year 1664. In the very same year, smallpox broke out as an epidemic. This was a crucial time when Guru Har Krishan volunteered to save the people from suffering. He provided them with aid and water freshly drawn from the well. But he contracted the disease and eventually passed away on 30 March 1664. Later, a small tank was built over the well by Raja Jai Singh . The water is believed to have healing properties and is consumed by every believer of the religion
Bangla Sahib Gurudwara Delhi premises has the main prayer hall, a library, the water tank in the middle, a hospital, a museum, an art gallery, and a school. Langar is served in the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara to everyone, irrespective of religion. Gurusikhs inside the Gurudwara prepares the food for the langars. Volunteers are always welcome to come and help in serving the food.
At night, the Bangla Sahib Gurdwara looks really beautiful even from a distance. It is a must visit for tourists.
Structure of Bangla Sahib Gurudwara
Located in close proximity to Connaught Place in New Delhi on Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Bangla Sahib Gurudwara is immediately recognised by the golden, shiny dome along with the tall flagpole known as Nishan Sahib. It is one of the most impressive structures in New Delhi. It can be easily viewed from the main entrance. It has a big pool within its complex and the whole thing is known as Sarovar.

What is the history of Bangla Sahib?
Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is a religious place of worship for Sikhs from all over the world. This iconic structure is located in New Delhi near Connaught Place in central Delhi. The Gurudwara was originally a bungalow which was owned by an Indian ruler from the 17th century. Raja Jai Singh lived here in Jaisinghpura Palace. The neighborhood at that time was called Jaisingh Pura, a famous area which got demolished when the construction of Connaught Place began. The small tank or the Sarovar was constructed by the king during the cholera epidemic to help Guru Har Krishan, a Sikh Guru. Since then, the Sarovar is said to have healing properties. The palace and the Sarovar together came to be revered by the Sikhs all over the world. This is how the Gurudwara came into existence.
