Piccadilly Circus, London (England)

The corner-most building on the northern side of the road is laden with large display boards to advertise various products along with the neon illuminated lights. Many famous companies have displayed their advertisements in this place. Companies including Coca-cola, Hyundai Motors, Samsung, McDonald's, Vodafone, Kodak, Burberry and others advertise here.

Piccadilly Circus Highlights

Located at the center of the amazing attraction, the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain was built in the year to commemorate the work of the famous philanthropist, Lord Shaftesbury. At the top of the fountain is the statue of the Angel of Christian Charity. This Piccadilly Circus statue is now called as Eros.

Along Shaftesbury Avenue is the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum, which is visited by a huge flock of tourists every year.

Besides that, the London Pavillion, the Criterion Theatre, and the popular Lilywhites department store are also amazing attractions one must visit there.

When I landed at Heathrow Airport cab and the cab driver, arranged by you for which I already paid and included in the package demanded 55 pounds more and I was made to pay that amount to the driver. This was informed to Mr.Prashant your contact person at London. He said he will check and do the needful. Paras from Hub Holidays was my travel planner. He had made a good package keeping in mind that my mother and me were travelling together and this was our first trip to London. With regards to Hotels, both were good and located in the center of the city which made a lot of sight seeing attractions accessible by foot for us. It’s a busy square located in London’s West End in Westminster.

Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster. It makes for an ideal destination to visit a plethora of places like Chinatown, Soho's theatre district, Oxford Street shopping area, Leicester Square or Trafalgar Square. You would be amazed to know that other prominent attractions like Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are all within the walking distance.

 

 

Most of the Piccadilly line is underground with the Piccadilly Circus station located right beneath the Piccadilly Square. It is partly a deep-level line, with a number of surface sections, mostly in its westernmost parts.

Connected to a thoroughfare, called Piccadilly, that appeared in the year 1626, it derived its name from a house belonging to a popular tailor who used to sell piccadills and other kinds of collars.

The statue at Piccadilly Circus is called by the name of Eros. Depicting an image of a beautiful winged archer who has poised with his bow, it had been erected in the 19th century to commemorate the philanthropic work of Lord Shaftesbury.
