The Royal gardens and the long arcades of Palais Royal are a great place one can choose to stroll through. This place has witnessed the important moments of French history. It was built by Cardinal Richelieu along with the lavish palace. It was given to the Duke Louis Philippe dOrleans by the end of 18th century.

History
The Royal Gardens which forms part of the Royal palace and was built by Cardinal Richelieu which then went into the hands of Duke Louis Philippe d’Orleans by 18th century’s end. The young lord was completely in debt and therefore, in order to pay his creditors, the lord opened this place for development and building apartments on ground. The bottom floor with the galleries form the three parts of enclosure one can find today which were given out for rent to shops, boutiques and cafes. Bordellos and gambling houses. The Royal gardens thus became a central meeting spot for revolutionaries. The place has been the hot spot of exchanging ideas during the French revolution. In the recent times, palace is taken over by government ministries and the apartments here are rented to writers and artists.
