History of Panaji
After the Portuguese invaded India in 1961, Panaji was annexed by India along with Goa and rest of the Portuguese territories. In the year 1987, Panaji or Panjim was declared as the capital of Goa. The name Panaji was changed to Panjim in the year 1843. It was also declared as the administrative capital of Goa.
