Ancient Agora of Athens (Greece)

Agora in Greek stands for the marketplace or a meeting place. The Agora in ancient Greek city-states was the central public space that was the soul of the city-state. The general populace mingled and interacted in the Agora while the statesmen met for policy making. Vendors put up stalls and artists performed for the crowd. The Agora in Athens was the heart of the city, and the square had all the government buildings. The residence of state officials, and athletic and sports competitions along with philosophers spreading their wisdom all found their place at the Agora. From social activity to religious activities, recreation and upholding of justice, the Agora remained the venue for everything of note that took place in the city.

The ancient Agora of Athens is a prime example of the Greek agora and was an incredibly important place with regards to life in ancient Athens. The Agora in ancient Greece, especially the one in the city of Athens, was the center of everything; from market to elections to policy making to upholding justice. The agora was surrounded by monuments and buildings necessary to run the Athenian government. For 5000 years, the agora had always been occupied be it by commercial buildings, residential buildings, monuments or public and government buildings.

The Agora of Athens Greece went through several cycles of construction, destruction and rebuilding and remodeling. The agora hosted merchants, craftsmen, philosophers debating and propagating wisdom, policy makers and artists. After being destroyed in the Slavic invasion of 580 A.D., the place was abandoned before being redeveloped as a residential area during the Byzantine Empire up until 1834. The historical significance of the Agora is immense and is a must visit place for the ancient history enthusiasts.

    Took a week long family trip to Greece planned by Ishita and executed by Ishan from MTP vacations. Overall great experience. Pros: Ishita from sales side was quite flexible in tailoring our trip to Greece and accommodated most of my inputs towards locations, length of stay, hotels etc., Quote g
    iven was quite competitive compared to peers. Ishan from operations side stayed on top of our itinerary throughout our stay providing pickup co-ordinates, driver and stay details. Got us upgraded to better travel modes as needed to ensure our schedules won't go astray, made us positively surprised and appreciated. Was available on phone, chat through the stay to ensure our travel experience is not compromised. Cons/Improvement areas: Minor discomforts were to wait for end of the day to know exact details of next day's plans.. Though nothing went off-track majorly, couple of schedule changes were done (of course for a better experience), but weren't communicated till late. While we were able to take it in our stride and play along, might not be the case for others . Both the above are more for ppl who don't like surprises in schedules, especially bit older travelers. Sales team were able to accommodate my asks on locations, however would be great if they are forthcoming with such family friendly options for uninitiated travelers. But Overall lovely family vacation enabled by MTP team!! Keep up the good work...
