Travel To Indonesia

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

Travelling by air is the best way to cover India to Indonesia distance. The aerial route between India and Indonesia is approximately 2786 miles. It can be more or less, given the exact source and destination of the flight. It takes around 5-9 hours on a direct flight and more depending on the number of breaks the trip includes. Travelers willing to take a break journey can fly to Singapore and take a flight from Changi airport as well. Singapore to Indonesia distance is only 714 miles and covered much quicker. Ngurah Rai International Airport at Bali’s capital Denpasar and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at Indonesia’s own capital Jakarta in Java are the two most traveled to destinations in the island country. Chennai to Indonesia route has the highest number of flights usually and are the most affordable ones, but New Delhi to Indonesia flights are also quite common.

By Train

Reaching Indonesia by train from India or any other country is difficult since it is an archipelagic island in between Indian and the Pacific Ocean. However, railways can be used to cut short Indonesia trip cost from India. Cost of flights is generally cheaper from the southern cities of India like Chennai, Kochi or Bangalore. One can take a train from their place of residence to any of these cities, and then catch a flight to Indonesia. The cost of a Bangalore to Indonesia flight will be much less than that of traveling from Mumbai to Indonesia directly.

By Road

Because of the lack of any landmass between mainland Asia and Indonesia, it is difficult to find a direct Indonesia route from India. However, it is possible to go from New Delhi to Indonesia via Singapore by road, if one must travel by bus or car; and then either take a flight or a ferry to Jakarta. The flight distance between the two is 558 miles. While the flight will take only 2-3 hours, the ferry will take up two days of one’s trip.

If any Indonesia travel guide is consulted, traveling by air is the suggested as the best means of conveyance. The other routes not only take longer but also require a lot more effort and money as well. To catch the cheapest flights to anywhere in Indonesia, one should keep an eye out for discounts offered by the Indian carriers. Booking in advance and choosing flights with layovers might save some more money as well.
