About Pura Lempuyang Luhur In Bali
Pura Lempuyang Temple Bali is one of the most established holy sanctuaries on the island. It also goes by the name Lempuyang Temple. It is one of the oldest temples on the island with significant importance to the Hindu religion. Visiting the temple is a cultural excursion that requires hikes to reach the top of the temple. Located on the eastern region of Bali on Mount Lempuyang, the temple willingly offers breathtaking views of the grand mountains and sloping forests of Mount Agung. The staircase of the temples has near about 1700 steps. On the way to the top of the temple, there are many attractions along the way to see. There are several temples, the mountain views, hordes of Balinese monkeys and much more.
Highlights of the Pura Lempuyang Temple
The mountain of Lempuyang is divided into three parts as per the Balinese cosmology. Sang Ananta Bhoga is the base mountain honoring to Lord Brahma, Sang Naga Basuki is the middle part, honoring Lord Vishnu, and Sang Naga Taksaka is the top region of the mountain honoring Lord Shiva. The temple premises are further divided into different areas. Jaba Pisan Mandala - the outer sanctum, Jaba Tengah Mandala - the middle sanctum, and Utamaning Mandala - the inner sanctum.
The locals' believe that a visit to the holy temple of Pura Lempuyang is not for the faint heart. One must have a strong heart, faith, and courage to make it to the top. It only then the spiritual aspects of the visit is attained. They also believe that if a person is respectful of the heart and from the mind, climbing the 1700 steps wouldn't be a problem.
Visitors usually take their own sweet time to hike the mountain watching the mountain views and inhaling the fresh mountain air. The climb can take about 2 hours when the amazing temple welcomes you in its true mystical setting. After the prayers, the priest ensues visitors with holy water that is said to possess soothing properties of the body, mind, and soul.
The temple premises is considered one of the six sanctuaries of the world (Sad Kahyangan) and also the holiest place to worship in Bali. The pivotal element of the establishment of this worship ground was to offer spiritual balance to the people of Bali.
