About Mount Takao in Tokyo

Mount Takao is the closest natural escape from Tokyo.

With an elevation of 599 m not only does it presents amazing vistas but also a perfect spot for a day out. Since it is located within close proximity from the capital, it draws a huge crowd, especially during the weekends. It is situated at the Hachi?ji, Japan, and is a part of Meiji no Mori Takao Quasi-National Park. The place is an ideal spot for all adventure enthusiasts since it offers several adventure sports activities such as hiking and cable car ride. There are many trails that one can choose to hike on. All of these trails are an amazing way to spot the awe-gasping beauty of the park. One of the highlights of the park are the trees with yellow and red leaves. They make for a perfect backdrop.

Mount Takao Trails

Some of the famous trails that go up to Mount Takao are listed as follows:

Omotesando Trail: Omotesando trail is more of a walking route than a trail. This route has paved pathways and covers almost all the major spots. Those looking for a relaxed hike can opt for this 3 km trail.

Suspension Bridge Trail: This 1.5 km trail takes you through the Miyamabashi Bridge.

Katsura Woods Trail: Katsura Woods trail is ideal for those who wish to take up a route that covers both the stream and forest and at the same time bewitching you with awe-inspiring vistas.

Kasumidai Loop: With a distance of 0.9 km, it is the shortest and one of the easiest trails to the mountain top.

Biwa Waterfall Trail: It is one of the longest Mt Takao hiking trails with a distance of 3.3 km. Biwa Waterfall trial is also the most challenging of all. It takes you through a bewitching waterfall.

Inariyama Trail: This trail is perfect for anyone willing to take a little challenging path. It takes you through Mount Inari. It covers a distance of 3.2 km.

Ura-Takao Trail: Ura-Takao trail is the longest of all with a distance of 4.7 km. However, it is an easy trail to hike.

Mt Takao Cable Car

Mt Takao Cable Car is another option that adventure enthusiasts can opt for. Not only is it a faster means of reaching the mountain top but it also offers picturesque views. One can hop on the cable car ride from Kiyotaki Station. The option of the chairlift is also available that goes on from Sanroku Station.

I booked via TT, agency Serene Holidays for my South Korea tour. My tour was a mix of personal planning and agency planning. I was worried that this mix and match may create an issue for the agent. However, Darpan was really amazing while helping me plan for the trip. Given that we were extremely unsure, he demonstrated an amazing level of patience, was open to multiple ideas (thanks to the confused us!) and also helped us in zeroing down to the best solution given our travel intention. We planned part of our Seoul + Busan tour along with additional requests like pickup and drop which wasn't in the original plan. Darpan accommodated all our requests, even when some changed at the last minute. This really took the stress out of the trip planning. On the actual trips - the partners for local tours identified were amazing. The trips were extensive, the guides were knowledgeable, and we were able to experience the place with the full charm. No undercutting, and no overdoing! The trips started from our hotel which was an added plus. The hotel in Busan, which was booked by them had an amazing location - right in the middle of the train station and the subway. It literally took us 2 mins to reach either location. Only thing - the rooms were very small. However, I can ignore that keeping the other benefits in mind. All in all, thanks to TT and Serene for making this a beautiful event. I will definitely keep them in mind while booking future trips !
