About Tokyo Attractions

Tokyo is where the world meets Japan. With a population of approximately 92.7 lakhs, the capital city draws the maximum number of visitors from all around the globe. It is also the most visited city in Japan. Tokyo is a city to get lost in the world of anime, cherry blossoms, hi-tech electrical appliances, video games, and high-end fashion districts. All these things create a boost in Tokyo tourism. The city is not only a bustling capital but also a mega-metropolis. It is also the largest city in Japan. The city has two international airports Narita International Airport (NRT) and Haneda Airport (HND).

History of Tokyo

One of the interesting things about Tokyo is that it initially was a fishing village named Edo. The word Edo means estuary. Over the years, when it came under the rule of Emperor Meiji, its name was changed to Tokyo. The capital also has a rough past when it comes to the list of earthquakes. Over time, the city has recovered from many massive earthquakes and tsunamis since it is situated in an active earthquake zone. However, the city has learned how to cope with such natural calamities and has emerged as one of the most sustainable cities.

One of the things that Tokyo is majorly known for and any Tokyo tour guide cannot miss out on is anime. A major part of modern Japanese culture reloves around anime and manga. Moreover, the trend of these has also earned a huge audience worldwide, many of which travel to Japan for the same reason. With Narita International Airport located around 60 km from Tokyo, in proximity to the prefecture of Chiba, and Haneda Airport being centrally located in the city, airways make the city quite accessible from other parts of the world, including India. Though, there is no direct flight to travel between the two places, you can choose from plenty of connecting flights, operated by Air India, Jet Airways, Lufthansa, Etihad, and other airlines that can take you off to Tokyo from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Hyderabad in a short span of time. Once you reach a Tokyo airport, you can either hop on a Limousine bus or an express train to reach downtown easily.

By Train

If you are someone who loves traveling via trains, and thus, seeking ways in relation to how to reach Tokyo from India, then you might be disappointed. However, being the centre of railways, the city of Tokyo is well-connected to other parts of Japan, making railways quite a good option to travel in and around the nation. There is a bullet train and a network of subway lines if you wish to travel via railways. And, for that, all you need a rechargeable card and/or a map to navigate the way, and voila! You are ready to explore the town at its best.

By Road

Rashmi's 6 days trip to Tokyo

We went to Japan for a family vacation through Wanderbird. Raunak and his team customised the perfect itinerary for us and made sure that we had a seamless experience. Raunak was always available for every little query before the trip and even when we were in Japan we could reach out to him anytime.
It’s one of the most memorable trips that we have had and a major reason for that is the guidance and assistance received from Raunak. Wherever we go next, it has to be through Wanderbird. Keep up the good work.

Aradhanapia's 13 days trip to Tokyo

Thanks for a nice trip. There were many positives and nice / polite helps which enables this marvelous trip. If you want an appreciation mail, We can give a detailed one separately. In this mail we are concentrating on improvement points. There were several errors and faults/gaps that could have be
en easily avoided. Overall we would like to rate the trip as 3.8 out of 5 scale regarding your help and service. The points to be noted. 1 ) In the bus from Haneda airport the driver asked " which Apa hotel you are going ? ... There are many Apa Hotels ? You should have told us ( Aradhana Family and the driver ) that the Apa Hotel near Nishi Shinjuku Gochome station is where we are going. I am attaching a screenshot from google maps in this discussion. You can help your customers with these kind of screen shot maps. As we were not sure, the driver found out with lot of trying with Japanese maps. 2 ) In Haneda airport we were busy locating the driver and searching for data card, so that we can establish communication. The condition that Tokyo metro pass can be activated only from Haneda airport was a big error choice from your side. We missed that and lost that pass fully. Metro train pass can be easily bought anywhere. You should have left that option to us, in case the driver did not turn up. 3 ) For Tokyo tour the bases leaves from a building next to Shinjuku police station. The police station is very prominently known by all. While searching " Love Building " or Love sign or Love statue in front of some building we realized that almost everyone does not speak English, nor there is any building named as " Love Building ". It was 1 chome Building and on the Footpath LOVE is made by structure. 3 ) At Toyoma no one speaks English. The Boys and Girls, Men and Women in Hotel counter also do not speak English. There was big confusion to realize that our rooms were booked the Number to Annex building 1/2 km away in Toyoko Inn Hotel chain and not in the main one near the station. If it was in the building near the station it would have been only 1 km walk with lots of luggage. We had to walk 1/2 km more. There was no lock in the bathrooms of the rooms to Toyoko Inn Hotel ( annex 2 ). These kind of rooms are dangerous as can cause major misunderstanding is someone enters the bathroom, while someone else is using it. 4 ) At Nagoa The Red Planet Hotel was very nice. But very far from Main Railway station. You should have advised us to go to the Hotel by Taxi from Station. We took train to a small station and then walked more than 2 km with luggage, as we were not sure of the best choices. 5 ) In general try to communicate to people with description of multiple landmarks. Your decision of sending our passports to Bangalore office after being rejected from Delhi should have been told to us. We were not aware of these decisions taken by you. We came to know about Visa delay very late. As per our understanding of dates, you sat on our passport, without any action for almost 1 week,( at Gurgaon ) and then rushed around. This is the main reason why we rated your service as 3.8 out of 5. Thanks and Regards Aradhana and Subhashish
