About Tokyo Tower in Tokyo

The red and white striped colored Tokyo Tower located in Tokyo is an iconic symbol of the country.

The tower was built as a radio broadcasting tower and still serves the purpose. It has a height of around 333 m and is one of the tallest structures in Japan. The tower resembles the Eiffel Tower and is around 13 m taller than it. Until 2012, Tokyo tower was the tallest structure in Japan, but after 2012, the Tokyo Skytree was built and took the title of the tallest structure in Japan. It is one of the famous tourist spots in Japan. One can see the panoramic views of the city from the tower’s main deck which is at a height of 150 meters and can be accessed by an elevator or one can take staircase which has around 600 steps. Tokyo Tower height is 333 meters and it is one of its kind self-standing steel towers in Japan.

History of Tokyo Tower

After the establishment of NHK, a Japanese national broadcasting firm in the year 1950, a need for a big broadcasting tower arose. The government also wanted to make an architecture that stands out and becomes an important landmark of the country. The design of the Tokyo tower is taken from the Eiffel Tower.

One should deposit the luggage on the first floor of the Tokyo Tower. One can only carry an item whose width, depth, and height add up to 100 cm or less than that. 

 

The tour to the top of the deck is only possible with reservations. One can make reservations online or from the ticket counter located on the first floor of the Tokyo Tower.  

No, one can’t go to the Main Deck before the time of reservations.

Baby strollers are advised to be deposited on the first floor of the Tokyo Tower.
