About Tipu Sultan Palace in Bangalore

The perfect fusion of Indo-Islamic architecture, the summer residence of the Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan, stands the Tipu Sultan Palace in Srirangapatna. If we date back to study the Tipu Sultan Palace history, the construction was commenced by Haider Ali (Tipu Sultan’s father) and was completed in 1791, when Tipu Sultan overtook it. After the death of Tipu Sultan in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, the palace was used by the British Administration for its Secretariat. Today, it belongs to and is maintained by the Government of Karnataka. The structure of the palace is teak and is adorned with pillars, hallways, arches, and balconies. It is often said that Tipu Sultan used to hold his darbar from the eastern and western balconies of the upper floor. This palace is a symbol of the galore and glory of the great Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan and thus, the ground floor rooms have been converted into a small museum with the achievements of the ruler. Today, on a visit to the Tipu Sultan Palace, one can see artifacts, vessels, paintings, and portraits; things that talk about the glory of that era.The crown and the clothes of Tipu Sultan are placed on pedestals made of gold and silver. The palace, thus, not only is a hub to historians and archaeologists, but to tourists who visit and experience a magnificent architectural epitome round the year. Thus, the Tipu Sultan Palace is a perfect portrayal of bravery as well as dexterity and one, when in Bangalore, should definitely pay it a visit.

The hotel room in Coorg was not upto mark. The agent did not describe the room category before hand and we had to adjust to the room type given. In Mysore, also we had to pay extra to upgrade to the room category. It is also good to be transparent with the room types so that the guest can decide accordingly.
