How To Reach Kochi

If you are planning a trip to Kochi, you would surely want to know how to reach Kochi. Reaching Kochi is not a hassle as the port city enjoys excellent connectivity with neighboring states through various means of transport.

How To Reach Kochi From Pune ?

There are three possible ways to reach from Pune to Kochi. But there are no direct ways to reach Cochin from Pune.

Pune To Kochi By Flight

While Pune is well connected to most of the cities in India through regular flights, Kochi has the nearest airport around 28 kms away. At present, 16 flights operate from Pune to Cochin on a daily basis. The minimum time duration between Pune and Kochi by air is 1 hr 50 min. There are direct and connecting flights available from Pune to Kochi.

On reaching the airport in Kochi, you may either hire a pre-paid taxi or book a cab through Uber or Ola.

Pune to Kochi By Train

The distance between Pune and Cochin by air is 971.67 km which is easily covered in a duration of 1 hr 50 min. Rail distance between Pune and Kochi is 1435kms. Several trains run from Pune to Kochi on daily and weekly basis. On a regular basis, a single train runs from Pune to Kochi while three trains run on a weekly basis. Road distance between Pune and Kochi is 1293.4 kms which takes a duration of 24 h to complete. You have to take a cab to Panvel and then a bus to Cochin which will take approximately 14h 40m and at cost of Rs. 5791.

By Air

Kochi has a fully solar-power operated International Airport which is located in Nedumbassery- at a distance of 29 km from the city center. Being a major hub for international trade and commerce, Kochi has excellent connectivity to all major cities across India and as well as the world. It is one of the busiest airports in India and the largest in Kerala.

Make sure you book your tickets well in advance as the flights flying to Kochi offer good discounts for early booking flyers. IndiGo, SpiceJet, Indian Airlines, and Vistara operate daily flights from all the metropolitan cities to Kochi. You can easily get buses, taxis and auto rickshaws from the airport to reach your destination.

By Train

Kochi is well connected by train from all parts of India. Most Kerala-bound trains have a stop at one of the two major railway stations in Kochi: Ernakulam Town Station and Ernakulam Junction Station. Kochi has many suburban railway stations where long distance trains stop, such as Aluva, Thripunithura, and Angamally. Book in advance, as trains are usually crowded. Taxis and auto rickshaws are easily available to and from both the stations.

By Road

Kochi is accessible from all southern parts of the country as well as other regions of the state, through the widespread state-run Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus services and services of neighboring state transport corporations.

Apart from government services, numerous private bus companies operate scheduled services to almost all the key cities in South India as well as Mumbai, Goa, Mangalore, etc.<readmore> Kochi is connected to the rest of India via three major national highways; NH 66 (Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram), NH 544 (Salem to Kochi) and NH 49 (Kochi to Dhanushkodi). Kochi is also well connected to other parts of Kerala through various state highways. This network of roads makes it accessible for one to self-drive to Kochi.

Winter Note at Munnar having a balcony which opened towards Forest side where I enjoyed chirping of birds which is still in my ears and memory. Travel unbound will be the only company to book other travel plans. Visit to Pariyar lake, hotel Winternote having forest balcony with chirping of birds was fabulous.
