How to Reach the Periyar Tiger Trail

Here is a guiding route for how to reach Periyar Tiger Reserve for trail activitiy. Periyar, by road, is connected to all major towns in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Private and government buses are available from Madurai, Ernakulam, Cochin and Kottayam that take you the park. Another alternative is to take a bus to Kumily. You can always catch an auto or a bus from here to the Periyar National Park. Kumily is the nearest town to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, which is approximately 4 kms away from Thekkady.

You can also drive your own car or hire a cab to be dropped off at the gates of the Periyar National Park.

Very nice trip to kerala. The choice of hotels were really very nice. A 5 days kerala trip is a little hectic but overall its a beautiful destination. Cab driver was friendly and cooperative. But kerala is really vast. From one point to another takes lot of time. And also this place is costly. Some

sightseeings are overpriced. Beaumont plantation retreat - one of the best resort I've ever visited. But it would have been better if no of cottages are increased clearing up some forest area. Munnar trip was also beautiful. And last but not least the houseboat. Could have been better if a continental cuisine instead of kerala cuisine was served.
