You are not required to pay any entry fee here. The Periyar Tiger Trail is an exciting project started by the forest department. It gives all the thrill-seeking individuals a novel chance to observe the untamed life in a forest from up close. The tiger trail in the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Thekkady is a famous activity. It includes an overnight stay deep inside the forest, along with trekking. This is organised by Government Forest Department.
The Periyar Tiger Reserve in Thekkady offers a two days and one night package. It covers a distance of around 35 kilometres. Along with the visit to the Periyar Tiger Reserve, there is the Jungle Night Patrol activity in Thekkady that people like to do, provided they are aware of it. As a part of the patrol, you go for a late night walk inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve. Each night, a maximum of two teams of 5 – 8 patrollers are allowed. Each team is accompanied by 2 guides and an armed forest guard. The timings for this are 10 at night to 4 in the morning daily.
