How to Reach Kuruvadweep Island in Wayanad

The Kuruvadweep Islands in Wayanad provide fresh air and lush green forest which can impress anyone. The islands are located 16.7 km away from the nearest town. Their distance from the cities makes them a popular tourist destination. Kuruvadweep Islands in Wayanad are about 58kms away from Sulthan Bathery, 40kms away from Kalpetta, and 15kms away from Mananthavady.

There are many ways to reach the Kuruvadweep Islands in Wayanad. If you are planning to go to the Kuruvadweep islands by road you can make use of the bus services from Manathavady to the Kuruva Islands. The bus will go through Changalagate, Kurukkanmoola, and Palvelicham before arriving at  Kuruvadweep, Wayanad. The bus stops at the Puzhakkara Devi Temple in the Kuruvadweep Islands. The buses are available from morning 7:00 am to 6:30 pm. Once you reach Puzhakkara Devi Temple you can find the ticket counter of DTPC from where tourists can get fiber boats.

If someone is coming from Sulthan Bathery, they can use the Kenichira, Nadavayal, Punchavayal, Pakkam route. From Pakkam they can drive 4kms to enter the parking area. The road from Pakkam will bring you to the Southern most part of the Kuruvadweep Islands.  At the parking, the forest department has its counters in which they give tickets for the bamboo rafts.

The nearest airport to the site is the Calicut International Airport located about 119 km away. Kozhikode railway station is 99 km away from Mananthavady and is easily accessible. You can use either of these facilities if you are planning to come to Kuruvadweep from outside Kerela.

The entry timings for the Kuruvadweep Islands in Wayanad is from 9.30 am to 4.15 pm. The forest department closes at 4:30. The counters close by 4:15. There are autos, cars, and buses available from the Kurva islands. The permitting authority of the island of Kuruvadweep is the Divisional Forest Officer. Any activity conducted on this island needs to be permitted by him.

The cost for rafting and entry is very low. Treetop huts with one bed are also available for tourists. You can stay there for maximum one day.

Great experience, especially the eco point view and the houseboat. Good food at houseboat and breakfast at the hotel. Houseboat crew members were very friendly. Boat house was neat and clean and relaxing. Improvements: Could have provided AC in the hotel as it was not located at the hill top and felt the heat sometimes. Could improve the itenary to be a realistic possible plan as certain places were totally on a different direction to the other places so had to skip those due to time constraints. Parking charges were mentioned in the inclusions and yet it was collected at the end by the driver.

Houseboat was terrible, cheap with a drunk housekeeper. Other hotels were fine. Driver was good but had a cng car and we had 3 suitcases with bags for a 6 days trip. He was paid just 13,500/ and traveltriangle charge was 600/ we learnt. So driver wanted to stop at only those places where drivers could get free food. As vegetarians, such places were tough to find. Amara resort was good but had bad veg food. Houseboat service guy in his drunk state insisted on putting excessive chillies, red and green, even though we informed a day earlier that we have a small child.

Hi, I have done many trips from travel triangle but this time I have faced many challenges (mentioned below) while traveling the Rajasthan tour. I have also highlight one more point here I didn't get enough support from Robin (agent) and Nagam (from traveltriangle) while traveling, they have ignored my messages and calls. 1. There is one temple (Osian Mata Mandir) near to Jodhpur which was added in my package, when I asked driver to go to that place he declined and asked 3000 Rs from us for going there, I have told this to Robin. He didn't take any action on this resulted I need visited there from public transport. 2. In Udaipur hostel breakfast was not added however that's was added in my package, After many followups with Robin and Nagma, thet have reimbursement the breakfast cost. 3. In first day of Rajasthan tour they have given us 5 seater car, however we have booked 7 seater Inova in our package. I hope you can understand this and reimbursed the extra cost which we expand. Faced an issue with agent while arranging driver for my trip, without getting confirmation from driver,agent gave driver details to me. When I reached kochi and called driver,he said no bookings are there for him.we were shocked and asked agent about what happens, then she arranged driver and send.but she didn’t informed driver about toll fee and parking charges are included in package so driver asked us parking charges,so we had to pay double. Except this issue everything was smooth.

Trip was fine. But hotel "the view munnar" was not good at all as the Lift was not working and 1st day there was no water supply in bathroom. Cab was good and the next hotel "pagoda " was very nice. Maximum things were not covered in the package. They say site seeing is covered but later the localites asked to book a jeep for further sight seeing. The best part was the art show(Kathakali and kalaripattu) and alleppey boat ride , which was not covered in the package. We had to pay separately for that.
