About Gwalior Attractions

A ravishing place Gwalior is situated in Madhya Pradesh. Gwalior is known to be the leading light of Madhya Pradesh. The splendid rock-cut temples, the forts which look very appealing, the museums in old palaces like in Jai Vilas palace attracts the tourists a lot. Gwalior basically produces agricultural things, cloth fabrics and is engaged in building stone and iron ore. Gwalior's main trading industries include the manufacturing of footwear, pottery, biscuits, cigarettes, amazing textiles, beautiful carpets, plastics, rayon, glass, and matches, cotton, flour, sugar, and milling of oilseed and carvings on stone.

History of Gwalior

The sculptures of Jain’s at the beautiful Gwalior fort were built under the rule of man Singh Tomar. Man Singh Tomar also made a palace giving it his name, man Singh palace is also a tourist attraction now. When you visit Gwalior you should not miss going through Man Singh palace. "It's the pearl in the necklace of forts of India & not even the winds could touch its spar" these are the words Babur used to use for the appealing Gwalior fort. Even on a Gwalior one day tour you should not miss visiting the Gwalior fort. This city was ruled the longest by Mughals and then by Marathas. Rani Lakshmi Bai, the extraordinary fighter took the shelter at Gwalior fort in the year 1858. When the British attacked Gwalior Rani Lakshmi bai fought a great battle despite the fact that Britishers were around 20,000 and they were only 1600 still she fought and died as a fighter and Gwalior was free of rebels. When you have a Gwalior trip you will see a statue of Rani Lakshmi Bai on her horse there.

Rich Culture of Gwalior

The beautiful city of Gwalior is known for its contribution to classical music, art, and literature. This city is conflux of two very rich cultures bundle and brag. By Air

Gwalior has its own airport, as well as it is the Base for Indian Air Force, so for those who are wondering how to reach Gwalior by flight, the best thing to do is to take a flight to Gwalior Airport which is the nearest airport to Gwalior, from where any public transport can easily take you to Gwalior city. All the major airlines like Air India, Spicejet, Indigo, Air Asia, Air Vistara operate daily flights to Gwalior airport. Agra airport is around 107 kms away from Gwalior. Delhi to Gwalior by flight takes around 1 hour while Mumbai to Gwalior by flight takes around 6 to 13 hours depending on the duration of the stopover.

By Train

Regular trains from different parts of India run here daily to the Gwalior Junction railway station. Gwalior Junction Railway Station is the main railway station in Gwalior which connects the city with other cities in India. Direct trains to Gwalior from cities like Agra, Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi are available.

By Road

It is a good idea to travel to Gwalior by road, since it is well connected to all nearby towns of the state. One can also easily take a convenient bus journey to Gwalior from Delhi, which can be covered up in around 6 hours to cover a distance of approx. 364 kms. While a bus from Agra to Gwalior takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.
