There are no direct buses available between Chennai and Gwalior. One can take a direct flight to New Delhi and from there can take public or personal transport to Gwalior. The distance between both cities is around 1790 kilometers and can be covered in around 25 to 26 hours.

By Air: Chennai to Gwalior flight : The aerial distance between Chennai and Gwalior is around 1480 kilometers and it can be covered in around 6 hours. There is an airport in Gwalior named Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia Air Terminal which is around 13 km from the city centre. The airlines serving between both the cities are Air India, Go Air, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Vistara. This is the fastest way of transportation from Chennai to Gwalior.

By Train: Chennai to Gwalior train : The distance between Chennai and Gwalior is around 1790 kilometers and it can be covered in approximately 24 hours and 25 minutes. The nearest railway station in Gwalior is Gwalior Junction Railway Station. This railway junction is very well connected to the major cities in India. There are 7 direct Chennai to Gwalior trains which run to Gwalior Junction. The names of the trains are Andaman Exp, GT Exp, Tamil Nadu Exp, Dehradun Exp etc. Traveling by train to Gwalior from Chennai is the cheapest mode of transportation.

By Road : Chennai to Gwalior Buses / Private car : The road distance between Chennai and Gwalior is around 1790 kms and it can be covered in around 26 hr 47 min. There are no direct buses serving in the route between Chennai and Gwalior. But if you really want to travel by bus you can take a bus from Chennai to Hyderabad, Hyderabad to Pune, after that bus from Pune to Indore and lastly from Indore to Gwalior bus journey. The bus journey takes around 12 hr to reach Hyderabad from Chennai, 12 hr from Hyderabad to Pune then approximately 13 hour to reach Indore from Pune and at last almost 10 hrs 30 min to reach Gwalior. This mode of transportation is time consuming and most of the travelers found it inconvenient. Or you can rent a private car and have a road trip to Gwalior from Chennai.

Being a regular customer of TT, I haven't received any relaxation or cupon for this trip, Also the first hotel was as per expectations but the second hotel for stay was worst and TT has to first analyse such property before booking. For second hotel bad experience. The service Agent Ankush, the first hotel Ark Residency and the cab driver pankaj. Also the site seeing spots.

At first day there was some miscommunication in hotels checkin time. We were not informed about late checkin time and we reached early in the hotel so waited for an hrs. But rest days was good . Hotels was good and clean. Car facility and driver was very nice and on time. Overall all good experience.

The food was good, but the rooms were not very good.If you need space in the room and hotel, please do not opt for it. The rest of the journey was comfortable.
