About Payar Island in Langkawi

Payar Island is situated 30 kilometers from the South-east of Langkawi. It is an exotic and beautiful marine park that protects and safeguards diverse marine life. Payar Island is a group of four islands, the other three islands are Pulau Kaca, Pulau Lembu, and Pulau Segantang. The largest of these four islands is Payar Island. All the four islands are regulated by the Fisheries Department of Kedah to maintain so as to keep the islands flawless, and none of these islands are occupied. This is the first ever marine park in Malaysia with crystal clear emerald waters and colorful reefs.

Things to Do in Payar Island

Snorkeling: It is a popular activity to try in Payar Island marine park. Witness the beauty of the underwater world while snorkeling in the clear crystal waters. Get an exciting and thrilling experience by snorkeling inside the marine park and see the different species of the reef.

Scuba Diving: The best scuba diving can be experienced in the Western Peninsula where you can find an outstanding number of marine and coral life. Payar Island offers the best visibility for scuba diving and has become popular diving spots.

Hiking: There are two hiking trails on Payar Island which are open for travelers to explore, witness the varied flora and fauna of the island on the way.

The highlight of the marine park is the Coral Garden, it is a private place in the park with colorful reefs that are well protected and preserved. One needs to take permission from the Fisheries Department to witness this place and fishing is completely forbidden in the Coral Garden. The entire marine park came under protection in the year 1985 and since then it has been catering to an increasing number of tourists who come here to have a gala time. The park is well-furnished with an ample number of facilities like barbecue pits, restrooms, picnic tables, and gazebos.

    I had booked my honeymoon package with the Sharing Travels. The travel itinerary was good as shared before. Langkawi was excellent but KL wasn't up to the expectations. It felt like a waste of time and money. KL can be explored on a self-basis much better than taking a package. Ginting highlands are
    good for kids and not for couples. The city tour was worst when the cab driver himself was amazed why such an odd time slot was given. Otherwise felt relief of mind by booking the package. More options should have been given to choose from and a travel guide should have been welcomed
