About Penang Attractions

Penang is a quaint city located in the country of Malaysia.

There are several attractions in Penang that include a diverse range of places to visit and things to do that will compel you plan a vacation here. It is a wonderful experience to be part of the surging Penang tourism in the present times. Before visiting Penang, have a look at its history, culture, climate and much more.

History of Penang

Penang, a state in Malaysia, is located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia and joined by the Malacca Strait. Penang is categorised into two parts - Penang Island, where its capital George Town city is located, and Seberang Perai which was the former Province of Wellesley and located on the Malay Peninsula. Penang is the second smallest state in Malaysia in terms of land mass. On its north and east, it is bordered by Kedah and Perak on its south. One of the parts of Penang, Penang Island is connected to other parts of the state by two of the longest road bridges of Malaysia - Penang Bridge and Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge. It is also an interesting fact that the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge is the longest bridge(overseas) in Southeast Asia.

Facts About Penang

Penang is popular as an exotic holiday destination among tourists worldwide. Once upon a time, Penang was also known as Pulau Pinang or the “Isle of the Betel Nut”. It is now included in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site since 2008. Penang is blessed with virgin cultural sights and scenery. Fondly known as the Pearl of the Orient, Penang is dotted with soft sandy beaches. It also makes up for the food capital of Malaysia.

Although Penang is not very big in area, it is home to some of the most attractive places such as Tanjung Bungah, Penang Hill and Snake Temple. The picturesque Georgetown and the enchanting Tropical Spice Garden in Penang are some of the cities other major attractions. The Tropical Spice Garden is also the only spice garden in South East Asia. Penang’s flea markets are also quite popular among tourists.

Just like the other parts of Malaysia, Penang also enjoys a tropical rainforest climate. Some of the months in Penang are affected by a tropical monsoon climate also. Penang enjoys a dry and less humid climate during the months from December to February. The encompassing seas and current wind system of Penang is responsible for such type of climate. As Penang is located in close proximity to the island of Sumatra, the dust particles from transient forest fires are carried by the wind. This activity causes a phenomenon which is known as the Southeast Asian haze.

Culture of Penang

Penang is a wonderful confluence of eastern cultures in the entire world. It has been one of the long-standing connections between Asia and Europe and the Middle East. Penang is diverse, cosmopolitan and urban at the same time. The remarkable art scene and free-spirited carnivals define the atmosphere of Penang while the local enthusiasm is a product of the state’s history and kaleidoscope of cultures.

Sakshi's 5 days trip to Penang

We visited Kuala Lumpur and genting with Kushark holidays in first week of October. We were a group of 12 which included 4 senior citizens and 3 children. Hence, we wanted a smooth trip for us. Sagar ensured that, he provided comfortable cabs, enough time to explore places, we were not rushed anywhere which made our experience memorable. We would recommend Kushark, as they have provided a complete package at an affordable price and service delivered was top notch. Thanks Kushark and Sagar once again

Vidya's 8 days trip to Penang

We booked 7 days and 6 nights Malaysia tour through Kushark Holidays. Travel and activities. Overall it was well arranged trip thanks to Sagar. He is always there whatever might be the day and time. Response is excellent. I would definitely recommend them for anyone going to Malaysia. Thanks to Sagar Sonker and Kushark Holidays. One small feedback is that it would be good to have some flexibility in car pickup timings while in the country.

Manoj's 5 days trip to Penang

I recently went on a vacation to Malaysia through Kushark Holidays and I had a good experience during my stay in Malaysia. I just had an idea to go to Malaysia and Sagar helped in making best out of the trip by suggesting go visit Langkawi and KL with 4 nights and 5 days. Ankush was very supportive during the trip and he was available for the call always (I would have called him more than 10 times in 5 days :D) he made sure I faced no hustle. I prefer Kushark Holidays for my future trips as well. Thank you Ankush and Sagar

Agarwalshashank's 7 days trip to Penang

My itenary was well planned by Mr Shubham and gave me room enough to relax along with coverage of most of the tourist spots. All the cabs and driver were well behaved and English speaking which made it easy to communicate. Hotel could have been better. Overall nice stay. Genting Highlands was awesome.

Gayathri's 4 days trip to Penang

Hi Had a great trip this holidays with my son My special mention to the abroad agent whom i was so impressed with her immediate response to msgs and pick and drop .Plans were good for sightseeing and other activities My suggestion is if there was a guide who can explain things during city tour about history of the place its importance that would be great rather than booking a cab driver who simply drops in the place and waits in car Hope the team works in that angle of giving a guided tour Island hopping and Jet skiing with my teenage son

Ayyappa's 3 days trip to Penang

I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Malaysia, and my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the country's rich cultural diversity, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality. Thanks and much appreciated @Sagar for providing all the information and providing good guidance from start to end of my journey. 1. *Cultural Richness*: Malaysia's unique blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures made for a vibrant and enriching experience. I was particularly impressed by the harmonious coexistence of different cultural traditions, which is evident in the country's festivals, architecture, and cuisine. 2 *Efficient Transport*: Getting around Malaysia was quite convenient. The public transportation system, including trains and buses, was efficient and well-connected. Additionally, ride-hailing services were readily available and affordable. In conclusion, my trip to Malaysia was a memorable trip. I highly recommend Malaysia as a travel destination to anyone looking for a unique and fulfilling travel experience.
