How To Reach Jaisalmer From Delhi

The national capital of Delhi being so close to Rajasthan, people from the capital visit this majestic state fairly often. Jaisalmer is a must on this list of cities to visit in Rajasthan and as such, knowing how to reach Jaisalmer from Delhi is necessary knowledge for everyone. Delhi to Jaisalmer by road distance is approx. 827 kms which can be covered in around 13 to 14 hours. The roads are pretty well and driving can be enjoyed on this route. The fastest and the best way to reach Jaisalmer from Delhi is by taking a flight which takes around 1 hour 20 minutes. Spicejet is the most popular airlines running on Delhi to Jaisalmer route.

Delhi to Jaisalmer by Flight: The airport in Jaisalmer is located at a distance of 17 km from the main city of Jaisalmer and has regular flights from major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai etc. The major airline running on Delhi to Jaisalmer route is Spicejet and offers regular travel options to travelers. Delhi to Jaisalmer by flight takes around 1 hour 20 minutes to reach. Cabs and taxis are available outside the airport to take to the main city area.

Delhi To Jaisalmer By Train: Delhi and Jaisalmer are directly connected by train. It is a 780 kms journey and takes about 17 hours to complete by train. There are 4 trains that go from Delhi to Jaisalmer and at least 1 train is available everyday. The unique "Palace on Wheels" luxury train also leaves from Delhi and includes Jaisalmer in the itinerary. Delhi to Jaisalmer by train takes around 13 to 18 hours depending on the type of train taken.

Delhi To Jaisalmer By Road: The distance between Delhi and Jaisalmer is about 780 kms and this makes it doable, if not a little inconvenient, trip by road. The entire Delhi to Jaisalmer by bus journey does not take longer than 15 hours but it still a good idea to make it a 1 stop road trip. Two of the three routes go through Bikaner to Jaisalmer while the other does not pass through any major cities instead of going through towns like Neemraha and Nagaur. Delhi to Jaisalmer by bus is also an option and both government and private buses run on this route.

Tripsailer helped us from start to end with all the planning and helped to make sure that my trip went without any hiccups. They also called in between to check on us, which was really good. The hotel that they gave in Jaipur was great, the hospitality, food and room everything was upto the standard

s. However, the hotel they gave us in Udaipur was not that great. The washroom door had mould on it; it was not clean. The breakfast was average. The driver they provided was good; he did show us around, but he was going off track with the planned itinerary and was going to other places that were not in the itinerary. Apart from these few points, the trip went perfectly well. We enjoyed it a lot, and we would choose Tripsailer again for our future trips.
