About Udaipur Tourism

Few places in arid Rajasthan can compel travelers with an unwavering charm as Udaipur does. The scenic backdrop of the Aravallis, old Havelis, and the shimmering lakes embodies the essence of Udaipur tourism. Famously known as the ‘City of Lakes,' Udaipur’s beauty and aura are unmatched with glistening lakes, picturesque forts, colorful bazaars, timeless streets, and lovely countrysides.  Families and friends can plan a fun trip to Udaipur, but the romantic ambiance of this town makes it most suitable for couples. A travel guide of Udaipur shows popular attractions in Lake City including Lake Palace and Lake Pichola as well as information about shopping in Udaipur and a list of hotels in Udaipur. Carry a tourist map of Udaipur if you're looking to go for self-guided sightseeing. Also, check out flights to Udaipur in advance to avoid very expensive flights. Dubbed as the Venice of the East, Udaipur is truly a perfect destination for culture seekers, nature lovers, honeymooners, and families.

The best time to visit Udaipur is during the winter season from September to February when the weather cools down considerably. Udaipur has a variety of fun tourist experiences like sunset boat cruises, haveli tours, desert safaris, ropeway excursions, craft fairs, museum tours, and vintage car shows. Weave romance-laden tales by the five lakes in Udaipur: Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Jaisamand Lake, Udai Sagar Lake and Rajsamand Lake. Udaipur tourism also includes spicy food, like Lal Maas- which has a lively mixture of red chilies, mutton, and herbs.

Shopaholics will have a gala time here exploring the ancient and colorful bazaars of Udaipur. Embrace the Rajasthani culture by shopping for traditional souvenirs, paintings, and artisanal products here.

You can visit Udaipur tourist places like the five lakes, City Palace, Eklingji Temple,  Saheliyo Ki Bari, Jag Mandir Palace, Gulab Bagh Zoo, Doodh Talai Musical Garden and the Vintage Car Museum. Explore the old-world feel of the ‘Venice of the East’ and take horseback rides on the lovely country slopes here. The City Palace Museum Udaipur entry fee includes the fees for the light and sound show. However, when here make sure to check out the City Palace Udaipur Light and Sound Show timings as well. Make sure to find out some facts about Udaipur history, before going.

While exploring the beautiful city of Udaipur, treat yourself with lip-smacking food. The food in Udaipur is famous for rich flavors, textures, and tastes. Try the mouth-watering street food in Udaipur which comprises of boiled egg Bhurji, Mirchi bada, kachoris, bread pakoda, daal baati choorma, dabeli, paani puri, pav bhaji, sandwiches, Maggi, kulhad coffee, and hari mirch chai shots. The street food is inspired by Rajasthani spices and taste. The famous place to try these delicacies is to visit Chetak Circle, Police line road, Bombay market, lake palace road, Panchwati, Townhall, and Fatehsagar lake. While exploring the city, explore the flavorsome and delicious food of the city.

Immerse yourself in the diverse cultural environment of Udaipur and enjoy the alluring beauty of lakes, forts, and vintage car museums.

Unwind on this Udaipur trip with a sunset boat cruise on the surreal Lake Pichola. While on this cruise, enjoy the beauty of elevated hills, decorated temples, lofty palaces, and bathing ghats on all sides. Marvel at the architectural and classical wonders-City Palace, Kumbhalgarh fort and Sajjan Garh Fort. Witness the excellent combination of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture at the City Palace on this Udaipur travel guide. Tourists will love the peaceful environment of the Sajjan Garh fort that overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake.

Udaipur tourism guide also involves a tour of some historical wonders like the Bagore ki Haveli, Jagdish Temple, Pratap Smarak, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Shilp Gram, and Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal.  A trip to Udaipur is incomplete without a ropeway excursion across the city that offers beautiful aerial views.  This ride also takes tourists to the Karni Mata temple where you can seek blessings from the Goddess.

As part of Udaipur tourism, brave the blistering heat to explore the Udaipur Lake Palace that lies on the Jag Niwas Island.  Enjoy a fairytale rendezvous here where the rooms are painted in pink stone works, lotus leaves and winding archways. The pillared terraces and fountains add to the charm of this palace.

As part of a Udaipur travel guide, tourists can also go on fun cycle tours to explore the city. You can cycle through Jagdish Chowk, pass by the famous Clock Tower, pick up spices at the Bada Bazar before heading to Lake Pichola, and spend some moments of solace there.

Pick up some exquisite handmade papers, cloth lanterns, puppets, wall hangings, Pichwai paintings, batik prints,  tie and dye, and bandhani sarees.  Some of the famous bazaars in Udaipur are Bada Bazaar, Rajasthali, Sadhana Emporium, and Hathi Pol.

Udaipur travel information also includes exciting horse rides around the Aravallis where you may be able to spot antelopes, blue bull, and chausingha. Enjoy the thrill of vintage car collections at the Vintage & Classic Car Collection Museum.

The romantic grandeur and ambiance of Udaipur is perfect for a holiday retreat and makes it a perfect tourist hotspot.

    • Trip to Udaipur

Rajasthan,This was a tour of Family and Friends with 17 people( 11 adults and 6 kids) for 10 Days and 9 Nights. We were little apprehensive of the Places, Travel and Accommodation due to group size. we could not judge what would be the best deal and who could provide the best service, but to our surprise, One stop Solution for all our requirements happen to be "SURAJ of UNIQUE TRIP MAKER". He took care of all our Trip requirements and could add Rooms everywhere with my last minute addition of the people. He has given us Good Bus, though not a great Driver. Suraj was very supportive throughout the trip and was very helpful with daily check-update of our trip status. He never shied away making the necessary changes, if required. Our Accomdations were at 1)Jaipur - Rajputana Haveli; 2) Bikaner- Jaswanth Bhavan; 3) Jaisalmer- Tokyo Palace; 4)Samdunes- Rojani Resort; 5)Jodhpur- Kuchaman Haveli; 6)Udaipur- Mukund Vilas; 7) Pushkar - Country Side Resort. I would rate all of them VERYGOOD with "JASWANTH BHAVAN @ Bikaner and ROJANI@Samdunes- OUTSTANDING" while "Kuchaman Haveli - BAD. It was my mistake of Choosing Kuchaman based on pics , though suraj insisted me to opt other one, wish we could have followed his instructions. This was a very organized trip and We, as a large group highly recommend "Unique Trip Maker" to plan vacation and we Rate 5 STARS for the service Suraj has provided. My first choice for our future Trips would be UTM- Suraj. Thanks TRAVEL TRIANGLE and UNIQUE TRIP MAKER for your OUTSTANDING service.

The famous things in Udaipur are its gorgeous lakes such as Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake, and Jaisamand Lake. The city is also popular for splendid palaces like City Palace, Sajjangarh Palace, and Taj Lake Palace. Udaipur also has many outdoor activities such as trekking, boating, horse riding, wildlife safari, and ride the famous ropeway.

Yes, Udaipur is worth visiting as the city has many mesmerizing places to see comprising beautiful lakes, spellbinding palaces, famous temples, stunning gardens, and mouth-watering street food.

Udaipur is comparatively safe as compared to other cities in India. The crime rate is pretty less. However, small crimes like theft, purse snatching etc can be seen at some places. It is advisable to be cautious about your surroundings especially at public places and tourist places.

Generally, 2 nights and 3 days package is recommendable for exploring Udaipur. Sightseeing in Udaipur can be done in 2 days including shopping. 3rd days include departure. If you would like to explore nearby areas as well like Mount Abu then 5 days package would be enough.

June is not a good time to visit Udaipur as the temperature is high and also the high humidity levels. June is considered to be the hottest month in Udaipur and not ideal for sightseeing and other activities. Hotel rates may be at their lowest during this month but we recommend not to plan a visit to Udaipur in the month of June as you won’t be able to enjoy your trip to the fullest.
