Fateh Sagar Lake is known as the “Pride of Udaipur” as this lake is surrounded by three islands and a picturesque landscape. This artificial lake was constructed by Maharana Fateh Singh in 1678. To view the beauty of the Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur, go on a boat ride and enjoy the vibrant mix of the green lush landscapes against the cool blue waters of this lake.
Fateh Sagar Lake
Fateh Sagar Lake was originally built by Maharaja Jai Singh in the year 1687. Everything worked fine until 200 years later the earthen bund got washed away. It was seen that the lake formation was mutilated. It was in the year 1889, Maharaja Fateh Singh decided to construct the Connaught dam inorder to save the lake. In his memory, the lake was renamed as Fateh Sagar Lake.
Attractions Of Fateh Sagar Lake
Among the many attractions of the Fateh Sagar Lake is the Nehru Park. Take a walk around this park and view the mini zoo that here. You can also enjoy a delicious meal at the boat-shaped restaurant at this park. Enjoy the grandiose views of water fountains and the tall palm trees all around this park.
Other attractions include the Public Park where the blossoming flowers and the jet water fountains will mesmerize travelers. Another must see at Fateh Sagar Lake is the Udaipur Solar Observatory, which is considered one of the best solar sites in Asia.
Boating At Fateh Sagar Lake
The cost of boating in Fateh Sagar lake is between INR 15 to Rs 30 for Indian nationals and between Rs 60 and Rs 125 for foreigners. A motorboat ride would cost around Rs 200 per adult and Rs 100 per child. Speedboats, on the other hand, would charge Rs 200 per person for a 30-minute ride and are operational from 8 AM till 4 30 PM.
Fateh Sagar Lake Events
Popular as one of the grooviest destinations for national and international events, Fateh Sagar Lake attracts more tourists during the time of major events. The very famous World Music Festival takes place in Fateh Sagar Lake. Enjoy a bout of liveliness during this festival which goes on for three days straight. This festival usually takes place during the month of February. Be assured to find some prominent national and international artists here. Enjoy a live performance of soulful music.
Another popular festival, the Green New Moon fair, also takes place in the Fateh Sagar Lake during the monsoon months of August-September. This festival is also known as the Hariyali Amavasya Mela among the locals. The fair marks the onset of monsoon and the celebration continues for three days.
