Best Places To Visit In Udaipur
The glistening Lake Pichola, the opulent City Palace and the surrounding range of the Aravali make Udaipur a traveler’s dream. Besides these, there are several places to visit in Udaipur like stunning Havelis, palaces and colorful bazaars that are fun to explore. Whether you are traveling solo, with family or with friends, Udaipur’s natural charm will mesmerize you.
Famous places to visit near Udaipur include Ranakpur Jain Temple, Jaisamand Lake, Eklingji Temple, and Kumbhalgarh Fort. Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary is also among the popular places near Udaipur within 100 km. Natraj Dining Hall, Upre, Ambrai, Parkview Restaurant, and Lal Bagh are the top places to eat in Udaipur. The best time to visit Udaipur is in the last week of December when the Shilpgram festival is held. Mewar Festival is also another ideal time to visit Udaipur.
You can kickstart a tour in this city by visiting one of the most famous places in Udaipur, the shimmering Lake Pichola. Go on a boat ride and enjoy the enchanting beauty of the surrounding hills, gardens, elevated palaces and old Havelis. World-famous authors like Rudyard Kipling have also mentioned this lake saying, "If the Venetian owned the Pichola Lake, he might say with justice, 'see it and die' ".
Travel a little further north of Lake Pichola, and you will come across the artificial Fateh Sagar Lake. Explore the three different islands on this lake and enjoy a fun sightseeing tour of the gardens, zoo, and hills. Devour a quick meal at a restaurant and visit the renowned Udaipur Solar Observatory.
If the beauty of Lake Pichola left you speechless, another Udaipur tourist attraction is the Lake Palace that is situated on the lake itself. Take in the elegant beauty of the pillared terraces, the pink stonework, cusped arches and the painted mirrors of this fairytale palace.
Another fairytale-like castle you should visit on an Udaipur sightseeing tour is the City Palace. The colorful Rajasthani and Mughal architectural style of the Palace will leave you spellbound. Make sure you check out the vast collection of royal artifacts at the crystal gallery in this Palace.
After exploring various lakes and palaces, relax amidst the lush green gardens of Saheliyo Ki Bari and Doodh Talai Musical Garden. The romantic ambiance of these gardens is what makes them must-visit tourist places in Udaipur . These gardens look even more beautiful when it rains as the water pools, fountains, and kiosks come alive.
Apart from these natural wonders, there are man-made wonders like Kumbhalgarh Fort and the Monsoon Palace. The Kumbhalgarh Fort, in fact, has a wall that is 38-km long and is the considered the second longest wall after the Great Wall of China.
The Vintage Car Museum is where you can see what the Maharanas of Mewar rode in. Then there is the crafts fair at Shilpgram where you can get a flavor of the local Rajasthani culture. Each hut here showcases the traditional architecture of this lake town, and you can pick up a number of local souvenirs from here.
Other Udaipur tourist attractions you should check out are the Gulab Bagh and Zoo, the Maharana Pratap Memorial, Jagmandir, Bagore ki Haveli, Bada Mahal, Nehru Garden and Nathdwara. Enjoy a fulfilling and enriching trip in this ‘Venice of the East’ by visiting these Udaipur tour places and have the holiday of a lifetime.

Trip to RajasthanI had planned Rajasthan trip for my parents. Well, they seem to be very happy with the arrangements and services provided. 5 stars for the services. We requested for a helping and understanding chauffeur as he would be accompanying my parents for the entire trip. The chaffeuur indeed was very caring and polite. We got more than we asked for! Thanks again for the services.
Trip to RajasthanFantastic and fabulous Jaisalmer sand dunes was the best, everyone should visit their.
Trip to RajasthanWe had a pleasing and satisfactory trip in Rajasthan. The hotels were good and comfortable. Our cab driver really was well disciplined both in person and as a driver. I was surprised and pleased to see that our travel agent was so caring and prompt to handle the situation in case of inconvenience.
Trip to RajasthanIt was wonderful tour.. we couldn't manage to explore two sites because of time limit but enjoyed a lot..
Trip to RajasthanHotel at Jodhpur was not so good. Hotel at Jaisalmer (Radhika Hotel) was worst. No cleanliness, no professionalism. Surprised to know it is three star hotel. I never saw such type of worst service in my life.
Trip to RajasthanWe didn't like our driver. He's needed underarm deodorant. We didn't ask he's religion, but it looked like he didn't like Hindus. When we were supposed to visit a Hindu temple, he just parked on the side of a highway so we could take pictures from far away. Our tour of Delhi was OK, but when we got to Agra to visit Taj Mahal, he told us that we needed a guide and it would be the same when we go to Amer Fort. He told us that the guide's services will be a minimum of 1000 rupees for the two of us. Even though it was not in our itinerary and even though we don't like guides, we just agreed to have one. He insisted that we needed one. We picked him up from the street while we were driving, which were thought was weird. He looked like a guide - dressed nice with a name tag, but we had to pay for his entrance fee. When we got inside Taj Mahal, he started to convince us to hire a photographer which went on for about five minutes. We didn't hire one. Only once he offered to take our picture. When I interrupted his story to ask questions, he told me to wait until later and my questions will be answered when he tells the rest of the story which was much much later. He was emphasizing more on what kind of rocks the buildings were made of and how the decorations on were made. We knew that he was trying to sell us something, and we were right. When we finished the tour, he said that we needed to ride a tuktuk to meet our driver because we were far from the parking lot. He made me pay for the tuktuk. Then he and the driver took us to two places where they sell the things that he emphasized from the tour. The next day when we got to Fatephur Sikri, the driver was telling us that the parking lot is far away from the entrance and we had to take a tuktuk which will cost us about 100 to120 rupees. It is true that the entrance is far, but the designated bus that takes the people to and from the entrance only cost 10 rupees each way - we found this out later. Our driver stopped the car and talked to a tuktuk driver and told us that the tuktuk driver will take us to the entrance. He didn't take us to the entrance. He called a teenage boy and told us that the boy is his brother and would take us to the entrance, but he will not ask for money. It was a long and tiring walk up a hill. When we got up to the top, he called another teenage boy which is also his brother. This other boy said that he is a student and a volunteer guide and he will not ask for money. He said that we would start from the back and pay the entrance fee after we finish the tour. He was talking us away from the attraction which made us feel uneasy. I told him that we wanted to pay right away and go through the front entrance. When we got to the entrance, there was nowhere to pay. We went in after talking our shoes off, but we kept our shoes with us. We didn't know what to do when we got inside the building. I read that we were supposed to pay 500 rupees, but the place didn't look that big. Luckily we met three European tourist that had a map of the place and told us where we were supposed to pay. I told our volunteer guide to help someone else and that we don't need him then he asked me to pay him. I didn't. We got out of the building which we found out was a mosque and walked a block to the real entrance. This attraction is worth the entrance fee. When we finished, I asked how to get to the parking lot. I was told to to bus for 10 rupees. When we got to the parking lot, we had to search for our driver. When we found him, he said that he was worried because we took too long. We didn't trust him anymore. When he dropped us off at our hotel in Jaipur, I told him that we don't want anymore guides. He was disappointed and insisted that Amer Fort is a very important place and we need a guide. We told him that we don't like guides. The next day before the tour, he told us that he would pay for the guide. We told him that we don't like guides to tell us what to do and where to go and we don't need them. We enjoyed the rest of the tour. Royal View hotel where we stayed in was very nice with a great view on the roof.
Trip to RajasthanAmazing experience. Very good and helpful staff. Only concern was "Kanj Avatar Resort" in Pushkar was a bit far from city, so even though facility was good it wasn't very convenient. Would've preferred something closer to the city. Everything else was perfect, best service no complaints !!! Kudos !!!

Trip to RajasthanSuper excellence Garib Nawaz, and Taj Mahal, is super places of our memories
Trip to RajasthanTook a trip with traveltriangle (and DIU holidays) to Rajasthan. It was my first trip via traveltriangle based on quotes and feedback from friends. But it turn out to be not so good. Contact person from TT was not available at all, when i need to callback, it was automated system no real person. Only time i got response is the time when i paid money installment. Even automated system asked for number so that TT can callback, but not received any call. So anyone booking with TT should note that TT will NOT be there when you need. Good thing in trip was Contact person from DIU holidays, he picked phone when required and had been in kind of constant touch. You can count on them. Coming to trip itself: DRIVER was worst, his objective was just to pass the time so that he don't have to drive and find a free parking even if we have to walk long distances (parking, toll etc. was included in our price). He will say negatives things about spots that were mentioned in itinerary so that we dont visit that place and refuse slightest detour as it was not part of itinerary. first HOTEL was not so good, far far from city and not at all family environment (it was a OYO hotel, you know what goes with those). Second HOTEL was good. Best thing was Sultan resort and sand dunes. DIU had planned trip well and will definitely book with them in future.

FAQ's of Udaipur

Udaipur is one of the most popular travel destinations in India and as such, is full of reliable places for solo travellers to stay. As long as the necessary precautions are taken and a general awareness is practiced, there is nothing wrong with Udaipur as a city for solo travel.
Obviously, the best season to visit Udaipur is the winter season from October-February, that is when the temperature is pleasant and the city can be enjoyed peacefully. Having said that, monsoon is not too bad either and it can be a good idea for low budget travellers to go at that time. Summer isn't a very good idea as the temperature during the day is in between 40-45 degrees celsius.
The City Palace of Udaipur is a must visit to introduce yourself to the architetural brilliance and the royal elegance of what once was in the city. A boat ride around Lake Pichola seeing the sights and especially th Lake Palace in the middle is also not to be missed. Bagore Ki Haveli museum is another item on the tourist checklist. Lastly, the Jagdish temple and the Eklingji temple are must visits for religious significance
There are plenty of hotels in the lal ghat, gangaur ghat area and both are ideally located for tourists wishing to be near all the attractions in Udaipur as lal ghat is walking distance from a lot of the major places to visit in Udaipur.
