Udaipur Tourism Guide (Rajasthan)

Few places in arid Rajasthan can compel travellers with an unwavering charm like Udaipur does. The scenic backdrop of the Aravallis, old Havelis, and the shimmering lakes embodies the essence of Udaipur tourism . Famously known as the ‘City of Lakes,' Udaipur’s beauty and aura are unmatched with glistening lakes, picturesque forts, colorful bazaars, timeless streets and lovely countrysides.  Families and friends can plan a fun trip to Udaipur, but the romantic ambiance of this town makes it most suitable for couples. A travel guide of Udaipur shows popular attractions in Lake City including Lake Palace and Lake Pichola as well as information about shopping in Udaipur and list of hotels in Udaipur. Carry a tourist map of Udaipur if you're looking to go for self-guided sightseeing. Also check out flights to Udaipur in advance to avoid very expensive flights. Dubbed as the Venice of the East, Udaipur is truly a perfect destination for culture seekers, nature lovers, honeymooners, and families.

The best time to visit Udaipur is during the winter season from September to February when the weather cools down considerably. Udaipur has a variety of fun tourist experiences like sunset boat cruises, haveli tours, desert safaris, ropeway excursions, craft fairs, museum tours, and vintage car shows. Weave romance-laden tales by the five lakes in Udaipur: Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar, Jaisamand Lake, Udai Sagar Lake and Rajsamand Lake. Udaipur tourism also includes spicy food, like Lal Maas- which has a lively mixture of red chilies, mutton, and herbs.

Shopaholics will have a gala time here exploring the ancient and colorful bazaars of Udaipur. Embrace the Rajasthani culture by shopping for traditional souvenirs, paintings, and artisanal products here.

You can visit Udaipur tourist places like the five lakes, City Palace, Eklingji Temple,  Saheliyo Ki Bari, Jag Mandir Palace, Gulab Bagh Zoo, Doodh Talai Musical Garden and the Vintage Car Museum. Explore the old-world feel of the ‘Venice of the East’ and take horseback rides on the lovely country slopes here. The City Palace Museum Udaipur entry fee includes the fees for the light and sound show. However, when here make sure to check out the City Palace Udaipur Light and Sound Show timings as well. Make sure to find out some facts about Udaipur history, before going.

Immerse yourself in the diverse cultural environment of Udaipur and enjoy the alluring beauty of lakes, forts, and vintage car museums.

Unwind on this Udaipur trip with a sunset boat cruise on the surreal Lake Pichola. While on this cruise, enjoy the beauty of elevated hills, decorated temples, lofty palaces, and bathing ghats on all sides. Marvel at the architectural and classical wonders-City Palace, Kumbhalgarh fort and Sajjan Garh Fort. Witness the excellent combination of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture at the City Palace on this Udaipur travel guide. Tourists will love the peaceful environment of the Sajjan Garh fort that overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake.

Udaipur tourism guide also involves a tour of some historical wonders like the Bagore ki Haveli, Jagdish Temple, Pratap Smarak, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Shilp Gram and Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal.  A trip to Udaipur is incomplete without a ropeway excursion across the city that offers beautiful aerial views.  This ride also takes tourists to the Karni Mata temple where you can seek blessings from the Goddess.

As part of Udaipur tourism, brave the blistering heat to explore the Udaipur Lake Palace that lies on the Jag Niwas Island.  Enjoy a fairytale rendezvous here where the rooms are painted in pink stone works, lotus leaves and winding archways. The pillared terraces and fountains add to the charm of this palace.

As part of a Udaipur travel guide, tourists can also go on fun cycle tours to explore the city. You can cycle through Jagdish Chowk, pass by the famous Clock Tower, pick up spices at the Bada Baza before heading to Lake Pichola, and spend some moments of solace there.

Pick up some exquisite handmade papers, cloth lanterns, puppets, wall hangings, Pichwai paintings, batik prints,  tie and dye and bandhani sarees.  Some of the famous bazaars in Udaipur are Bada Bazaar, Rajasthali, Sadhana Emporium and Hathi Pol.

Udaipur travel information also includes exciting horse rides around the Aravallis where you may be able to spot antelopes, blue bull, and chausingha. Enjoy the thrill of vintage car collections at the Vintage & Classic Car Collection Museum.

The romantic grandeur and ambiance of Udaipur is perfect for a holiday retreat and makes it a perfect tourist hotspot.

    • Trip to Singapore

I just finished a weeklong trip to Singapore with my family. The same was booked through travel triangle and services through rocking trips. The quote and the payment system was quite simplified and was perfect for my needs. The travel triangle team was quite proactive in suggesting us the itenary and the guide us on the trip . Post comparing a coupe of quotes we settled on the quote by rocking trips as it most suited our budget. A few good things about the whole process • Transparent billing procedure, no hidden costs as such • Itenary was customised as per our requirement • Constant follow-up by different personnel • Itenary mentioned was followed throughout the tour • The Singapore travel team was really competent on providing services as mentioned on the voucher. A few things that left a sour taste in the mouth • Absolutely no or very delayed response once all the payment was collected, especially from the travel triangle team. The trip coordinator Vaishali gave zero responses to mails, phone calls , what’s app messages and sms .Made me wonder if I had made the wrong choice of selecting travel triangle to coordinate my trip • The rocking trips team of Harman and Mitesh were equally frustrating as they went back and forth on commitments made before payments. Some of the commitments which were not met are mentioned below : • Probably the fact that we were three separate families travelling from three different cities in India made it difficult for rocking trips to coordinate everything including visa( which I personally acquired on my own and one of us had to pay extra to get the same delivered) . • Constant calls in Singapore for some random photoshoot at various places which I was informed to do. I initially agreed for the same however the same was not conducted , Some lady then called me and wanted me to take my family to a different location for the photoshoot which I refused .This was uncalled for and could have been managed better However I must mention Harman from rocking tours for his commitment , as he constantly called and checked on the tour and post he tour about the overall satisfaction Overall the trip was successful and upto my satisfaction. Could have been coordinated a lot better though by travel triangle, Somehow did not feel the support once all payment was made. Then the only person coordinating was Harman from rocking trips I had personally suggested travel triangle to my family after a very satisfactory Udaipur trip in Feb and felt the team was the right team to organise my travels .Will continue using them for my trips in the future and sincerely hope the feedback given is taken in the right sense and worked upon

Our trip to Rajasthan was very enjoyable. The local sightseeing tours were good at Jaipur and Udaipur, but our guide at Jodhpur was not very professional, he was very rude and inflexible. • Trip to Udaipur

Palaces and forts were interesting. Transport facility was good. Hotel Gyan Garh in Udaipur was comparatively well maintained than Hotel Ashapurna in Jaipur where linen housekeeping was very poor. Floors dirty and dusty. Breakfast need to improve in Ashapurna. Wifi and TV facility in ashpurna is poor. Most time channels were unavailable. Tour organiser met at end. Tour could have been managed better by spending 2 complete days in Jaipur and 2 complete in Udaipur. 3rd day in Jaipur was without any attraction. It seemed boring on 3rd day in Jaipur. Tour can be tailored better to suit tourists requirements by letting them choose among options available. Tourists should be given some time to relax in hotel in noon instead being carried all over without a concern to their comfort. It seemed what was served to us was not worth for what was paid for. If managed better it can prove to good memories from Rajasthan. Udaipur palace and Jaipur palace n forts. Local art items are costly. If available for lesser prices may improve sell.

    FAQ's of Udaipur

Read on to find out why our customers love us!

Udaipur is one of the most popular travel destinations in India and as such, is full of reliable places for solo travellers to stay. As long as the necessary precautions are taken and a general awareness is practiced, there is nothing wrong with Udaipur as a city for solo travel.

Obviously, the best season to visit Udaipur is the winter season from October-February, that is when the temperature is pleasant and the city can be enjoyed peacefully. Having said that, monsoon is not too bad either and it can be a good idea for low budget travellers to go at that time. Summer isn't a very good idea as the temperature during the day is in between 40-45 degrees celsius.

The City Palace of Udaipur is a must visit to introduce yourself to the architetural brilliance and the royal elegance of what once was in the city. A boat ride around Lake Pichola seeing the sights and especially th Lake Palace in the middle is also not to be missed. Bagore Ki Haveli museum is another item on the tourist checklist. Lastly, the Jagdish temple and the Eklingji temple are must visits for religious significance

There are plenty of hotels in the lal ghat, gangaur ghat area and both are ideally located for tourists wishing to be near all the attractions in Udaipur as lal ghat is walking distance from a lot of the major places to visit in Udaipur.

Lake Pichola, Udaisagar Lake, Fateh Sagar Lake, Rajsamand Lake, and Jaisamand Lake are the five major lakes in Udaipur.
