About Denis Island in Seychelles
Denis Island, lined with coconut palms, Takamaka and Casuarina trees, is the second northernmost island of Seychelles. Located very close to the northernmost Bird Island and around 60 km north of Mahe, Denis Island, Seychelles is a coral cay of the archipelago named after the French explorer Jean Francois Sylvestre Denis de Trobriand. He visited and found the island’s existence back in 1773.
At present, it is a private island with 25 chalets to entertain lovers of secluded vacations and a short airstrip to facilitate their transportation. Although a tiny speck in the vast blueness of Indian Ocean, Denis Private Island is a pristine sanctuary of the most exotic birds, giant tortoises and a whole reef-full of corals to explore. Among additional attractions, there is a lighthouse here which was built in 1910. Although pretty much defunct, it still stands here as a remembrance of the past on the northern edge of the island. There is a chapel on the island, as well as a mysterious cemetery, which only add to the appeal of this serene destination.
Other than exploring the abundant natural bounty of Denis Private Island Seychelles, the resort has a host of activities you can indulge in. With no phone connectivity and very little internet connection on the island, it is a perfect opportunity to take a break from your daily life. In these 375 acres of lush tropics, you will be reconnecting with yourself and with the nature, indulge in activities like snorkelling, deep sea fishing, diving, bird spotting and romantic cruising.
