Top Beaches in Seychelles
Crowded and deserted, there are over 90 beaches in Seychelles waiting to be discovered. Some beaches are more frequented due to easy accessibility while others draw in travelers with unique charm and outdoor thrills. Be it a honeymoon or a family vacation in Seychelles, visitors come to this part of the world mainly to frolic on the best beaches of Seychelles.
1) Beaches in Mahe, Seychelles
The main island of Mahe features over 30 stretches of sand. The world-famous Beau Vallon Beach is located on the northern side of the island. One of the most popular beaches in the country, this Seychelles beach offers magnificent views of North and Silhouette islands. There are a handful of diving and watersports centers available for visitors.
Anse Royale Beach: Anse Royale Beach is the longest stretch of sand on Mahé. It provides a safe and favorable condition for swimming from May to October. Activities such as snorkeling, boating, fishing, kayaking, sunbathing, and paddle boarding can be enjoyed here all year round.
Anse Intendance: An ideal spot for sunbathing, Anse Intendance has half a mile of white sand. Since there is no reef, the waves are larger than other beaches in the country, making it a popular surfing paradise, and one of the top beaches in Seychelles.
Port Launay: Port Launay is another beautiful beach located on the west side of Mahé Island. A popular haunt on the weekends, swimming is a popular activity here.
Anse Major: Anse Major is located 3 km west of Bel Ombre on the northern coast of Mahé. Visitors need to hike for about one hour through Morne Seychellois National Park to reach Anse Major.
2) Best Beaches in Praslin, Seychelles
Anse Georgette: Anse Georgette, on the island of Praslin, is only accessible by boat. This beach is a favorite spot among honeymooners due to the lack of tourist crowd.
Anse Lazio: Famous for towering granite formations, Anse Lazio is an exquisite beach that remains unrivaled for water sports opportunities. With its reef-sheltered coves and abundant marine life, it’s frequented by people of all interests.
Anse Volbert: Anse Volbert, also known as the Cote d'Or, is the most popular beach on Praslin Island. It is a stunning white stretch of beach where the clear sea is excellent for water sports.
Anse Source D'Argent: Located on the La Digue Island, Anse Source D'Argent is in a league of its own. Renowned as the most popular beach in the Seychelles, it is a favorite for magazine shoots as well as television holiday programs.
Grand Anse: Grand Anse is often-cited thanks to its picturesque views and pristine surface. Swimming is not recommended here due to water depth.
Besides the aforementioned ones, one can also visit to Petite Anse, which is only reachable by hiking along the bushes behind Grand Anse. While Anse Cocos offers the same visual setting, but it is virtually empty on most days of the year. Anse Boileau, Baie Lazare, Takamaka Beach on Cerf Island, and La Passe on Silhouette Island are other popular beaches in Seychelles worth visiting. The best time to visit popular beaches is from November through February. Not all beaches require an entrance fee for visitors. However, there are some beaches which require a reasonable price of admission for non-residents.
