The beaches of Barcelona are the top attraction during the summer months. Beach is pronounced as 'plaza' in Spanish and ' Platja' in Catalonian. During the time of May to mid-September, the water temperature remains around 21C to 25C, thus making it comfortable to swim. Barcelona has 3-mile long coastline and many famous and big hotels are situated near it. Some of these beaches are:
1. Barceloneta Beach
Barceloneta Beach is the most famous beach in Barcelona. It may be the dirtiest beach in Barcelona and the most crowded but cannot neglect the fact that it is the most entertaining beach in Barcelona. It also has got some great seafood eateries along its coast.
2. Bogatell Beach
Bogatell Beach is a lot cleaner and calmer than the Barceloneta Beach. Bogatell Beach is at fifteen minutes’ walk from the Bogatell Metro station.
3. Nova Icaria Beach
Mesmerizing a mostly very juvenile throng, this beach is located just beside the Olympic marina and Observatory. Nova Icaria beach is situated close to the Icaria shopping mall with its English language film, a very attractive offer while returning from the beach and hooked for something to do.
4. Ocata Beach
This beach is situated North Of Barcelona. Ocata is a peaceful, very horizontal and untouched place with oodles of space on the alluring golden white beach. You need to travel half an hour on the train, out of the city to experience this place full of serenity.
5. St. Pol De Mar Beach
St. Pol's Beach is also situated out of the city. You need to travel for one hour in a train to move outside of the city and witness this majestic beach. St. Pol de Mar beach has got crystal clear water and is backed by pretty hills. The most beautiful amongst them is the enchanting cove. This area has turned into a nudist corner- just beside the rain tunnel.
