About Kinnaur in Spiti
Kinnaur is a beautiful district with snow capped mountain ranges in Himachal Pradesh. Kinnaur is divided into three administrative areas namely Pooh, Kalpa and Nichar, further it is divided into five tehsils. Kinnaur has three mountain ranges also which adds to the charm, the Zanskar and the Himalayas which envelopes Stulej, Spiti and Baspa Valley. The most famous point in Kinnaur is the Kinnaur Kailash Peak. The peak has a natural stone which is the Shivling and has religious importance. Since Kinnaur is located at an high altitude the place enjoys a temperate climate with long winters lasting from October to May and short summers from June to September. The lower parts and the valleys receive a little rainfall during winter season. The region also experiences monsoon season, which makes it difficult for the travelers to explore the beautiful expanses of Kinnaur. Due to landslides it is not recommended to visit Kinnaur during the rainy season. There are major tourist attraction in and around Kinnaur. The Kalpa Valley and the Sangla Valley are the popular ones visited by tourists throughout the year. Kalpa is considered to be the best point for amazing sunset and sunrise views in Himalayas over the Kinnaur Kailash Range. The Chitkul Village and Roghi Villages are the two must visit places near Kalpa. They are at a distance of 28 and 7 Kms respectively from Kalpa. To reach Kinnaur, one can take Bus from Delhi or Chandigarh which serves on a daily basis. There are options of railways and airways even.
