About Nako in Spiti

Located at an height of about 12000 feet above the sea level, Nako is a captivating and scenic village that is full of eye capturing surroundings and is the most beautiful village situated in the Spiti valley of the Himachal Pradesh.

The village is situated on the eastern end of the Kinnaur District and is one of the most popular places amongst nature lovers and trekkers.

This beautiful village is correctly known as the 'Land of the Fairytales' as it is surrounded by the lush greenery and is home to many rare species of flora and fauna. The village also offers the visitors with multiple sightseeing options such as the famous Nako Lake, Nako Monastery and Rakham amongst others. Near the lake, one can also trace the footprints of the Saint Padmasambhava, who is believed to have meditated at the spot for many years.

The village is also one of the most happening travel destinations that are located in Himachal. Since the stretch lies close to the Tibetan Border, travellers need inner line permits to travel to the region. Foreign nationals also need permissions to stay overnight in any part of the village. This exciting village seems so much removed from reality that the visitors feel as if they have been transported to some other world altogether, and thus, the Nako Village is a must visit on a tour to Himachal Pradesh.

Nako can make you feel that you’ve landed on a different planet. Situated near the Tibetan border, it is a picturesque village. There is an ancient monastery and the Nako lake offers boating during summer and ice skating in the winter months.

Tourists can also visit Tabo which is 70 km away from Nako, a UNESCO heritage site with a monastery built in 9th century AD. Another beautiful village to visit is Kibber, the highest village in the world, with major attractions like monastery and sanctuary.

Cutecady's 7 days trip to Spiti

My stay in Kaza at Nyma Mudhouse was fine until the morning I checked out as the caretaker of the property peeped through the bathroom window while I was in the shower. I raised it with my travel agent as well as the owner of the property and it was dealt with, however, it still haunts me till date. Would suggest if you thoroughly check and verify the hotels/homestays before agreeing to do business with them as a tourist trusts you and goes ahead with your travel plan. Rest everything was just splendid especially my stay in CHHITKUL at Avika Homestay. Their hospitality, warm and welcoming service as well as the feeling of being treated like I belonged there touched my heart!

Hrishikesh's 9 days trip to Spiti

It was an amazing trip. As requested driver was really good. The hotels were also great at most of the places. Hotel Deyzor in Kaza was the best and Manali hotel was bit disappointing especially when there are thousands of other hotels options you have to offer in Manali. Food was also good at most of the hotels except Manali hotel. Overall the trip was well arranged as per our requirements, very happy with the cooperation of the travel agent Kiran and Travel talkies.

Abhishek's 10 days trip to Spiti

*** poor service from travel agent as well as travel triangle *** The travel agent helped in planning our itinerary very nicely. We chose all our hotels and even gave them the quotes and type of rooms. But even after that they were not able to book the chosen hotels and in couple of hotels, the rooms that were provided to us were different from what we had discussed. On top of it the travel agents were of no help when called during the trip ( Kiran and Abhitabh). Biggest disappointment, the travel triangle designated person (Rohan Kaul) never picked up the call when we tried to contact him as well.
