About Kaza in Spiti

Situated along the Spiti River, Kaza is the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti Valley. Divided into two parts-Kaza Khas and Kaza Soma, the town of Kaza is the largest town and commercial centre in the entire valley.

Surrounded by brunette mountain ridges on all sides, the town of Kaza is home to the administrative buildings of the Valley. The enchanting terrain and distinct blend of Tibetan and Indian culture act as magnets for drawing tourists to the destination. Owing to its centrality in the valley and proximity to nearby attractions, it is a tourist hotspot during the summer months of the year.

Places to Visit in Kaza:

Chandratal Lake

This is a must visit place when in Kaza. The lake is blessed with aesthetic landscape and clear waters which will give you intense serene feeling.

Key Monastery

The monastery has a rich collection of Buddhist texts, writings, and paintings. The architecture of Key monastery is something to die for. One will surely get some spiritual vibes at this divine place.  

Dhankar Lake

Another mesmerizing lake in Kaza can be reached from Dhankar Monastery. It gives stunning views of the rugged mountains and lush green landscape.

Komik Village

Komik Village is a calm and serene village often referred to as the highest village in the world. There is also a monastery called Gompa which has quirky and colorful interiors and exteriors. There are small slopes and hills in this village where one can enjoy easy trekking.

My stay in Kaza at Nyma Mudhouse was fine until the morning I checked out as the caretaker of the property peeped through the bathroom window while I was in the shower. I raised it with my travel agent as well as the owner of the property and it was dealt with, however, it still haunts me till date. Would suggest if you thoroughly check and verify the hotels/homestays before agreeing to do business with them as a tourist trusts you and goes ahead with your travel plan. Rest everything was just splendid especially my stay in CHHITKUL at Avika Homestay. Their hospitality, warm and welcoming service as well as the feeling of being treated like I belonged there touched my heart!

Hrishikesh's 9 days trip to Spiti

It was an amazing trip. As requested driver was really good. The hotels were also great at most of the places. Hotel Deyzor in Kaza was the best and Manali hotel was bit disappointing especially when there are thousands of other hotels options you have to offer in Manali. Food was also good at most of the hotels except Manali hotel. Overall the trip was well arranged as per our requirements, very happy with the cooperation of the travel agent Kiran and Travel talkies.

*** poor service from travel agent as well as travel triangle *** The travel agent helped in planning our itinerary very nicely. We chose all our hotels and even gave them the quotes and type of rooms. But even after that they were not able to book the chosen hotels and in couple of hotels, the rooms that were provided to us were different from what we had discussed. On top of it the travel agents were of no help when called during the trip ( Kiran and Abhitabh). Biggest disappointment, the travel triangle designated person (Rohan Kaul) never picked up the call when we tried to contact him as well.

Kaza is situated near to various popular tourist attractions. Some of the must visit places of Kaza are Tangyud Monastery, Key Gompa, Pin Valley National Park, Kibber Village, Langza Village and various others.

 

 

 

The entire Spiti Valley can only be visited during the months of May to October. Due to heavy snowfall, most of the roads remain blocked and as it is only accessible via road one cannot take any other route.

 

 

The distance between Delhi and Kaza is 741 Kms. Tourists wishing to come from Delhi can either board buses to Spiti Valley or hire a cab or taxi
