It has been the home of all the ruling monarchs of Thailand and also the place where the Royal Court and the administrative wing of the government are housed.

This architecture still remains the central part of the Thai kingdom. The Grand Palace also has several impressive buildings inside as well. It has the Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, which is the abode of a famous and greatly respected emerald Buddha, dating back to the 14th century.
