Places To See
1. Old Town (Kaleiçi)
The Old town of Antalya is indeed made for strolling. It is home to a myriad of restaurants, boutique hotels, galleries, and souvenir shops. If you enjoy the old-world charm, it is your place to be.
2. Old Harbor
Another place that you must-see on your Antalya trip is the Old harbor. It is a picturesque town flooded with bazaars, boutiques, nice cafes, and yachts. All of it will give you a nice Mediterranean vibe. Back in the day, it used to be the primary economic hub of Antalya. However, today, people come here, only to swim, sightsee, and enjoy their boat excursions.
3. Antalya Museum
Want to know more about Turkish history? If yes, then you must visit the Antalya museum. It has phenomenal exhibits that depict the best finds from all the excavation sites situated across the coast.
4. Yivli Minare
One of the most distinctive landmarks in Turkey Yivli Minare is another place to see when you are here. Built by the Seljuk sultan Alaeddin Keykubad, it is indeed an example of fine Seljuk architecture. There is a mosque inside. It has been in existence since the 14th century. Clock tower and the nearby tombs will also catch your attention.
5. Hadrian's Gate
It is the primary and the most dramatic gate for entrance into the Kaleiçi district. It is full of rich sculptural decorations that you can notice as you walk through the gate.
How To Reach
By Air
You can reach Antalya by flying to the Antalya International Airport, which is located approximately 10 km from the main city.
By Road
Though traveling to Antalya via cab can be an expensive outlook, however, if you are in a nearby city, you can take a cab to be the main town.
By Train
The nearest train station is located in Burder and is about 122 km to the north of Antalya. So, you can take a bus or cab from there to reach the city.
Best Time To Visit
The best time to take a Turkey tour is during the Autumn months of September to November and the Spring months of March to May. Given its Mediterranean climate, the summers here are dry and hot, while the winters are humid and wet. In Antalya, the annual temperature is 21 degrees. Here, the summers are from June to August, of which, the months of July and August are the warmest. July is practically the driest month with absolutely no rainfall at all. During the summer months, there is a massive tourist influx. Waterfalls and the beaches are good places to tour in the summers. During the spring and fall months, the footfall is the lowest. As a result of it, the accommodation is cheaper and very easily available. In the winter months, from December through February, the humidity is very high. January is the wettest of all. So, it is best to avoid the winter trip to Antalya.
