Amrit's 5 days trip to Rajasthan

The overall trip was good apart from some bad experiences. The cab driver was really good and always punctual and took care of comfort of the passengers. Hotels were good as well except one hotel in jaisalmer where i had to change 3 rooms for multiple reason. We found a rat in first room, in 2nd room washroom there were cochroaches and in 3rd room the bedsheets and pillow were dirty as well the previous garbage bag was not cleared. It really pissed of my mind. 2nd things i wanted to talk about that the travel company which has provided cab asked for 500 rs extra just for a site visit which was not under the plan but comes on the way from jodhpur to jaipur. It was hardly a 2km diversion from the main road. And aprt from that i feel the plan could have been done little better. Because most of time went on cab travelling from 1 city to other. I felt either 1city could have been removed or there should have been 1more day added. I covered udaypur, jaisalmer, jodhpur and jaipur in 7days and 6nights. I will suggest to add one more day as 7day is not enough and you need to rush to cover places which is not a good experience. Regarding shopping do your own research because driver might suggest some places which actually might be constlier and first time travellers can easily fall under this.

Plus points: Planning done and support provided by Mohit was really good. Cab driver Ramkrishna ji was very kind and good person. He is very pention and cleaver driver, knows every point and places. Also he suggested some good places where we enjoyed local tasty food. Things need to improve - Hotels were not upto the mark except Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.Service and room conditions are not so good. Worst hotel was at Mount abu. Next rank -The Balam in Udaipur. As we paid for 3 star hotels but the services and facilities were like 1 star hotel for these 2 places.

"I had a wonderful experience with Back to Holidays. We got good hotel rooms, and Preeti helped us with everything. She is very kind and kept checking on us to ensure we were comfortable. However, the driver was on phone calls almost the entire trip, all 7 days, which made us feel afraid." Had good time in all the places we visited

Tips

  • Rajasthan has many good hotels for every budget but one night stay in one of the Havelis be it bigger or smaller is recommended. they will present to you the Rajasthani way of treating people with great food and stay.
  • Rajasthan is a great place to go for a road trip provided you must have good amount of time because all the major cities where you need to travel are faraway. Crossing through the Aravalli ranges, deserted areas and surprisingly forests the road can be memorable and fun.
  • Once you are in a major city, even the smaller ones there are many public transport options available like the battery operated autos the Tuk-tuks or regular auto rickshaws for travel.
  • Food is something people die for in Rajasthan because it is a very unusual cuisine. Food at the stalls or in the restaurant both are delicious provided they are traditional Rajasthani cuisines. Rajasthani food is a little spicy so make sure if you cannot handle spice inform them beforehand.
  • Rajasthan is not only about pretty cities and shopping and food spend some time visiting the forts and museum and understand the historical value of Rajasthan.
  • Shopping in Rajasthan is definitely a pleasure. from Rajasthani dresses to Indian artefacts like decor pieces, bags, shoes.
  • To take the taste of traditional Rajasthani culture one must definitely visit chokhi dhani which you can find in Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur. There are traditional puppet shows and Rajasthani folk dance is performed here.
  • During the peak tourist season make sure you carry some cotton wear because Rajasthan gets hot during the daytime. during the evening it gets cool so you might require a piece of woollen clothing.
  • It is important to stay hydrated in Rajasthan because of its temperature and lots of travel. Especially while climbing a fort because it is going to take 4-5 hours.
  • Carry your first aid emergency kit along with basic medicines in case you need it while exploring remote areas.

Rajasthan is a place full of culture and heritage and should be seen with full dedication and interest. It has forts, deserts, national parks and excellent food and culture. It will surely make you happy as you go on exploring.
