About Campbell Bay in Andaman
A part of the Great Nicobar Island, the village of Campbell Bay relaxes in all its glory in the southernmost part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It is the main headquarters of the Great Nicobar Islands. There is so much to see and do here in the bay, like the popular Indira Point and the Great Nicobar Biosphere Reserve.
Campbell Bay Tourism
Considered to be a secluded paradise, the place isn’t frequented by a lot of tourists. Because of its location, many tourists choose to skip it. Even though reaching Campbell Bay is an achievement in itself, the visit here is absolutely worth the time, money, and energy. The natural beauty here is ethereal and would mesmerise the senses.
The Campbell Bay Island is open only to Indian tourists. This is why tourism here is considerably lower than in other locations in the Andamans. The ones who want to explore the natural beauty here, and also the famous Indira Point (the southernmost tip of India) make a visit here.
Campbell Bay National Park
This secluded paradise is also known for its lush foliage and dense forests. There is an abundance of tropical flora and fauna here. Hence, the area was designated Campbell Bay National Park by the Indian government in1992. The park is regarded by tourists as one of the best in India. There is so much natural beauty and wonder to absorb here.
The park covers 426 square kilometres. There are other parks and sanctuaries located nearby. The Galathea National Park, which is considerably smaller than Campbell Bay National Park, is separated from the latter by a 12-kilometre-long forest buffer zone. There are varieties of Mangroves and other tropical foliage. There are many flowering plants here as well, like orchids. Check out the many species at Campbell Bay National Park, like Nicobar pigeon, Robber crabs, white-bellied sea eagle, Nicobar tree shrew, hawksbill turtles, Andaman Wild pig, Oliver Ridley turtles, etc.
