Best Tourist Places To Explore In Puri

1. Jagannath Temple

What’s Special: Spiritual significance

Timings: 5 am to 11:30 pm

Transportation Option: Cab, auto

Devoted to Lord Jagannath, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Jagannath Temple forms a part of the Char-Dham yatra with Dwarka, Rameshwaram, and Badrinath. The most-explored spot in Puri Family Packages, the temple exhibits Kalinga-style architecture. Apart from Lord Jagannath, other main deities in the temple are his siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra Devi, all of them carved from wood. The temple serves Mahaprasad to thousands of devotees every day. The famous Rath Yatra (chariot festival), held at Jagannath Temple every year in June or July, attracts thousands of devotees to Puri.

2. Puri Beach

What’s Special: Fun activities

Timings: 6 am to 7 pm

Transportation Option: Auto, cab

One of the cleanest beaches in India, Puri Beach is known for its golden sand and crystal-clear water. It is the best spot to witness the mesmerizing sunrise and sunset. The beach offers fun activities like parasailing, camel rides, ATV rides, and horse rides. In the evening, the beach market shops are set up and sell souvenirs and utility items, while the stalls sell snacks and seafood. In November, Puri Beach hosts an annual beach festival celebrating the culture and heritage of Odisha, which can be an ideal time to plan your Puri Holiday Package With Family.

What’s Special: Holy tank

Timings: 6 am to 9 pm

Transportation Option: Trek, cab, walk

Founded by King Bhanu Narasingh Dev of the Ganga Dynasty, Narendra Pokhari was named after his mentor Nakhaposi Narendra Mahapatra. A small temple called Chandana Mandapa is situated in the middle of the tank and connected to the southern bank via a bridge. The famous Chandana Yatra takes place every year at Narendra Pokhari, where all deities are brought out of their temples, applied Chandana, and washed with the holy water of this tank. As the tank is considered sacred, people take a holy bath in one of the sixteen ghats this tank covers.

5. Gundicha Temple

What’s Special: Sacred spot

Timings: 6 am to 3 pm and 4 pm to 10 pm

Transportation Option: Cab, auto

Built by Gundicha Maharani, a devotee of Lord Jagannath, the Gundicha temple is also known as the Garden House of Jagannath. The temple, lying in the middle of lush gardens and coconut trees, has artistic stone carvings in its architecture. During Rath Yatra, the idols of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and his sister Subhadra are shifted to Gundicha Temple for nine days, entering through the west gate and coming out of the east gate. Book your Puri Family Trip Package and witness the holy processions.

6. Lokanath Temple

What’s Special: Religious significance

Timings: 5 am to 8 pm

Transportation Option: Auto, cab

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lokanath Temple’s unique characteristic is that the Shiva linga is always immersed in water, justifying that Goddess Ganga flows through its top as a stream. One can only witness the lingam before Shivratri, on Pankhodar Ekadasi, when the water is drawn out from the lingam. As per beliefs Sri Rama, on his way to Lanka, installed a Lauka (pumpkin) as a replica of Shiva linga and prayed to Lord Shiva to fulfill his wish. It is from here the temple got its name Laukanatha, later renamed Lokanath Temple.

Dinesh's 5 days trip to Odisha

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Odisha, and it was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the amazing sights, rich culture, and excellent services. Here’s a breakdown of my experience with the key attractions, accommodations, and cab service: ### 1. **Hotels:** The hotels I stayed at during my tour were well-selected and comfortable. In **Puri**, The room was clean, well-maintained, and the staff was polite and attentive., I stayed in a centrally located hotel that was perfect for exploring the temples and other local attractions. One of my favourite hotel stay at Taptapani hill Resort. The amenities were top-notch, and the rooms were spacious, ensuring a restful stay after a day of sightseeing. ### 2. **Cab Service:** The cab service throughout my trip was excellent. “Basudeb” was punctual, professional, and well-versed with the routes to all the tourist spots. The Toyota Rumion was comfortable and air-conditioned, making long rides enjoyable. “Basudeb” also provided valuable insights into the culture and history of the places we visited, which added a personal touch to the journey. ### 3. **Key Places Visited:** - **Jagannath Puri Temple:** The highlight of my trip, the **Jagannath Temple** in Puri is an architectural marvel. The atmosphere is electric, filled with devotion and grandeur. The rituals and cultural significance of the temple left me in awe. - **Konark Sun Temple:** The **Konark Sun Temple** is another must-visit. The intricate carvings, coupled with its historical significance, make it one of the most impressive temples I’ve visited in India. The sheer scale and beauty of the temple left me speechless. - **Chilika Lake:** A boat ride on **Chilika Lake** was an absolute highlight. The serene waters, surrounded by lush greenery, made for a peaceful and scenic experience. We also spotted some river dolphins, which added a touch of nature's beauty to the trip. - **Lingaraj Temple:** The **Lingaraj Temple** in Bhubaneswar is a classic example of Kalinga architecture. The temple's massive size and ornate carvings were breathtaking. It’s one of the oldest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the spiritual atmosphere is palpable. - **Mukteshwar Temple:** This small yet beautiful temple is a hidden gem in Bhubaneswar. The carvings and the serene environment around the temple make it a peaceful spot to visit. - **64 Yogini Temple:** In Bhubaneswar, I visited another famous 64 Yogini Temple in the Hirapur area. this one is relatively well-preserved and gives a better sense of the temple's original layout and purpose. It has 64 small stone cells, each of which was once home to a deity representing one of the Yoginis. The temple is small and simple in comparison to the grand temples of Odisha, but there’s a deep spiritual energy here. I spent time observing the intricately carved stone sculptures, which depict various deities and symbolic motifs. The temple was quiet, which allowed for a reflective visit. - **Taptapani:** The hot water springs in **Taptapani** offered a unique experience. I soaked in the warm waters, which were incredibly relaxing, especially after a long day of sightseeing. - **Tibetan Village:** The **Tibetan Village** was a lovely stop. The peaceful vibe, combined with Tibetan culture, monasteries, and handicrafts, was a delightful experience. I learned a lot about Tibetan traditions and had the chance to purchase beautiful souvenirs. ### 4. **Overall Experience:** The entire trip was well-organized, with seamless transitions from one place to the next. The combination of cultural exploration, relaxation at Chilika Lake, spiritual immersion at the temples, and the scenic beauty of places like Taptapani made this tour an enriching experience. The cab service ensured that my journey was comfortable, and the accommodations were cozy and well-located. Overall, this tour to Odisha was a fantastic mix of spirituality, nature, and culture. Deepti's 7 days trip to Odisha

It was a great experience. The services of both the travel agent Mr. Shibhashish and driver Mr. Sujan Kumar were excellent and highly recommended. Stay at hotel pride ananya was very comfortable. An advice to anyone visiting Orissa, please stay alert for all pandit jis.. most of them want more and more money out of you and it ruins the whole experience of visiting the temples... never saw this scenario anywhere except Puri, was highly disappointed. Would request tour organizers to make people aware of the same. The only Saving grace was successful darshan of bhagwan Jagannath ji. Visit to Chandrabagha beach, konark and Jagannath temple.

Anjani's 5 days trip to Odisha

Overall our trip was very good. Mr Shibashis from Inde D Voyage included all the places we wanted to visit and we had a near perfect itinerary for 5 days. The driver Mr. Videshi was very cooperative and had all the knowledge of the places we visited and we had a great time interacting with him. We were 2 female travellers only and we felt very safe through out the entire trip. The driver was able to adapt in the case of unseen circumstances and changed the order of the places to give us ample time to visit the places properly. Only one thing regarding Hotel Sapphire Plaza the day we reached, the room had smelly bedsheets and pillow covers but they did change it after complaining, so it was good service from the hotel management. The breakfast served at both the hotels was good. We will definitely visit Puri again with the same agency in future.

I recently had the pleasure of booking a trip to Puri, Orissa through Holiday Mechanics, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience! From the very beginning, their customer service was outstanding by Chintu . He was incredibly helpful, answering all my questions and providing detailed information about the itinerary. The booking process was seamless and straightforward. I appreciated how the team took care of all the arrangements, including transportation, accommodation, and sightseeing tours. Upon arrival in Puri, everything was perfectly organized. The hotel - Xenious Hermitage Koshal, they selected was comfortable and conveniently located near the main attractions. Me and my wife visited Odisha this week. Mr. Shibashish Das helped us with the arrangements. He was kind enough to consider our requests and was patient enough till we could finalise our dates. The hotels in Bhubaneswar and Puri were amazing. The accessibility, food and service were great. The complimentary breakfast spread at both hotels were amazing. Mandasaru was a close to nature experience. The team of ladies at the camp took good care of us. Hospitality of the staff at all the places we stayed was very nice.
