Kullu is an immensely popular and picturesque destination favored by domestic as well as foreign tourists for its panoramic scenic beauty. There is something to do for everyone in Kullu. Furthermore, there is an abundance of restaurants and cafes serving delicious food and refreshments. There are small shops selling local handicrafts and garments. You can also get miniature models of temples and tourist spots, to serve as memorabilia.

How to Reach

By Air

The Kullu-Manali airport, also known as the Bhunter airport, is a small airport located 10 km away from Kullu. However this airport is sometimes closed for maintenance and even while operational, only a few flights traveling to and from Chandigarh and New Delhi are available.

By Rail

The nearest railway station is Joginder Nagar, which is around 120 km away from Kullu. Travelers from all over India usually take a train to Chandigarh, from where buses traveling to Kullu are easily available.

By Road

Luxury and economic buses are available from New Delhi (570 km away) and nearby towns. There are roadways linking Kullu to Pathankot and Shimla as well. One may also choose to take a cab from Chandigarh which is 267 km away.

Best Time to Visit

Kullu is known for its pleasant climate throughout the year. The winters can get a little chilly with a lot of snowfall. The best time to visit Kullu is during the summers when you take part in all the adventure sports available here. If you are looking to avoid the crowd, mid-March or mid-April would be best for you.

Summer in Kullu (March-June)

During this season, the snow melts and the valley blooms with lush vegetation. It is the ideal season for sightseeing and adventure sports. It is also the most suitable time for trekking. It is the peak time for tourists and Kullu is usually a bit crowded during this time.

Monsoon in Kullu (July-Mid September)

One can expect infrequent rainfall and landslides during the monsoon season. Due to its altitude, Kullu sees heavy rainfall during these months and the temperature may suddenly drop because of this. It is not considered the best time to visit Kullu.

Winter in Kullu (Mid September-February)

This season is characterized by cold weather and subzero temperatures. For those visiting Kullu with the sole intention of enjoying the splendor of nature, this is the best period. This season is favored by those coming for a Kullu honeymoon.

Best Places to Visit

After booking your Kullu honeymoon package, jot down the several places to visit here.

It is an 8th century stone temple located in the Kullu valley. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is built in the pyramidal style and houses a "Yoni-Lingam" representing Shiva and Parvati.

The Great Himalayan National Park

It is located in Kullu at an altitude between 1500 and 6000 meters. This park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including 31 mammals, 9 amphibians, 181 birds, 11 annelids, 3 reptiles, 17 mollusks, and 127 insects. This park is protected by the Indian government and hunting is prohibited. It is a must-visit place for the nature lovers out there.

Parvati Valley

The valley starts from the confluence of the river Parvati and Beas and runs eastwards. It is a part of the Indian hippie trail. It consists of the infamous village of Malana, Kasol, the pilgrimage town of Manikaran, the Rudra-Nag waterfall, and the magnificent Kheerganga, where you can reach only by trekking through the jungle. At Kheerganga there is a temple and a sulfurous hot spring to relax.

Saurabh's 6 days trip to Himachal

Sir, My journey to Himachal Pradesh, exploring the beautiful towns of Manali, Kasol, and Kullu, was nothing short of spectacular. The trip, organized and guided by Deepak Tiwari, was an unforgettable experience, combining natural beauty, adventure, and cultural richness. Here’s a breakdown of the journey: Manali: Manali greeted me with its breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, lush valleys, and cool, crisp air. The quaint charm of the town is combined with vibrant markets and temples, which makes it a perfect blend of nature and culture. We spent the day exploring Hadimba Temple, the ancient Tibetan monasteries, and the Solang Valley. The adventure sports available at Solang, such as paragliding and zorbing, were thrilling, adding an adrenaline rush to the serene atmosphere of Manali. Kullu and Kasol: Next, we journeyed to Kasol, the serene village known as the 'Mini Israel' of India. The Parvati Valley's tranquil rivers, dense forests, and scenic walks made this destination feel like paradise. Kasol’s relaxed vibe and the breathtaking landscape were perfect for unwinding and immersing ourselves in nature. I was also able to indulge in some excellent food at the local cafes, which offered a delightful blend of Israeli and local flavors. We ended our trip in Kasol, a vibrant town that beautifully showcases Himachal’s rich culture and natural beauty. Known for its temples and lush green valleys, Kullu provided an opportunity to experience Himachal’s more traditional and local side. The river rafting in Kullu was one of the highlights of the trip, giving us an unforgettable adventure. Deepak Tiwari as a Guide: Deepak Tiwari, who was our guide throughout the journey, truly enhanced this trip. He was knowledgeable, approachable, and incredibly friendly. From understanding the local culture to guiding us on the best routes for trekking and sightseeing, he went above and beyond. His attention to detail, passion for the region, and ability to make each day exciting yet relaxing made this journey memorable. In conclusion, my Himachal journey to Manali, Kasol, and Kullu was an absolute delight. With Deepak Tiwari as our guide, we experienced the best of Himachal—its culture, natural beauty, and adventure. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion, this journey offers it all, and with Deepak's expert guidance, you're sure to have a trip of a lifetime! Upendrabarnwal's 4 days trip to Himachal

I booked the Kullu Manali trip for my parents as an Anniversary gift through Travel Traingle. It was a 3 Days, 4 Nights trip and cost around Rs. 20,000. The travel agency, Travelpedia, was very accommodative and Mr. Vikas helped with all queries. The Hotel Lotus Inn Rohtang View was spectacular, provided for a decent stay with great food. The breakfast and dinner was complementary with the package. The Hotel star was very helpful and ensured me parents faced no problems. The cab driver was also good. Though, he was trying to cut short the trip at times due to bad weather. Despite that, he navigated well through the hilly terrain and scenic places. In the end, I'd definitely recommend you to book through Travel Traingle for your upcoming trips. I too am looking forward to another adventure. My parents had got their luggage locked out mistakenly. The Hotel staff came to the rescue and provided required assistance to unlock it. XD

Simimadhu's 3 days trip to Himachal

I had hired a cab for three days at Manali. The program went very well for the first two days. On the third day, because of weather, the schedule had to be canceled. Further, because of road breakage my bus to Dehradun from Manali was canceled. I had to book another bus from Kullu. However the car transport in charge asked me to pay additional charge of Rs 2000 to take us to Kullu bus station from Naggar. He did not take into account that the third day schedule ajay included Kullu which was not undertaken purely because of road closure.

Service for the trip was good overall. Quick response from agent to attend any issue. However , the hotels were changed last minute leaving no room for options to change. Felt that quoted price didn't match with the standard of hotels provided to us( hotels with small rooms/uncozy locations with no outdoor view.Few Hotels provided were upto standard). Visit to Rohtang and adventures of Kullu valley made our trip pleasant and joyful. Cab driver was helpful and polite always.
