About Dussehra Festival in Kullu

A week-long festival of Dussehra celebrated in the most majestic way possible, coupled with dance, music teeming with diversities in culture, Dussehra in Kullu is bound to get the jaws dropped of every onlooker. People from all over the world gather up in the alleys of Kullu to witness the festival with umpteenth faith and devotion.

History of Kullu Dussehra

Kullu Dussehra Festival is successfully being celebrated since the 17th century, which marks its beginning on Vijaya Dashami every year and stretches up to seven days, usually in the month of October. The local king named Jagat Singh put an idol of Lord Raghunath on his throne to mark as the deity of the Kullu kingdom. This began the Dussehra celebrations in Kullu.

It is celebrated in the Dhalpur maidan located in the town of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. The ground is located near the District Court in Kullu. The first day of the huge festival is marked with the establishment of the statue of Lord Raghunath Ji on an artistically designed chariot. The royal carriage is then pulled with the help of ropes by the local people to the various sites across the region of Maidan.

Processions and Celebrations

The procession of Dussehra in Kullu portrays the rich cultures and traditional diversities merged into a beautiful stream of events, that decorates the streets of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.

Rest of the seven days are celebrated with immense devotion and people take to worshipping the Almighty with garlands and offerings. Dussehra festival in Kullu is also embarked upon with innumerable events and programs in which individuals participate and showcase their much- appreciated talents. The onlookers are left awestruck with the rhythmic Aarti ceremony performed during the dusk and the majestic rhymes of the beating drums that tune well with folk music played by devout musicians.

And Driver - Goutam Sarkar was really nice person. He used to suggest time to leave the hotel each day before went to hotel at night and be ready 10 mins before we come down. he used to call us 30 mins before to make sure we get ready too. Hotel staff in all the locations were more than willing to help and accommodate our request. A pleasant family experience.! The rating can nothing be short of Extremely likely, because of Aman and Goutam. They were really nice persons to have interacted with. But there is small scope of improvement which I have brought to notice of Aman and hope he improves upon them for future tourists!

The experience with TT and Scape Tours was below satisfaction. The cab and driver service caused us inconvenience with the driver not providing service in accordance with our itinerary. Our booking had cab service until 10 pm but the driver was not willing to drive after 7 pm. This caused us inconve

nience especially given the fact that we were a family with 2 small kids. The payment process was also confusing as Scape Tour delegated our booking to another company and in the middle of the trip the driver of that company started asking us to pay them directly. Scape Tour was also not pro active in communicating when and how much payment installment is required for the booking. We would get a message one day to make same day payment and until we paid, we would constantly get messages and calls ( every 10-15 minutes) which was frustrating while we were in the middle of our trip. On the whole, the experience was less than satisfactory.
