History of Kullu Dussehra
Kullu Dussehra Festival is successfully being celebrated since the 17th century, which marks its beginning on Vijaya Dashami every year and stretches up to seven days, usually in the month of October. The local king named Jagat Singh put an idol of Lord Raghunath on his throne to mark as the deity of the Kullu kingdom. This began the Dussehra celebrations in Kullu.

It is celebrated in the Dhalpur maidan located in the town of Kullu in Himachal Pradesh. The ground is located near the District Court in Kullu. The first day of the huge festival is marked with the establishment of the statue of Lord Raghunath Ji on an artistically designed chariot. The royal carriage is then pulled with the help of ropes by the local people to the various sites across the region of Maidan.
Processions and Celebrations
The procession of Dussehra in Kullu portrays the rich cultures and traditional diversities merged into a beautiful stream of events, that decorates the streets of Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
Rest of the seven days are celebrated with immense devotion and people take to worshipping the Almighty with garlands and offerings. The onlookers are left awestruck with the rhythmic Aarti ceremony performed during the dusk and the majestic rhymes of the beating drums that tune well with folk music played by devout musicians.
