About Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal

Inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi on 13th February 1982, Bharat Bhavan is multi art centre set up to create an interactive proximity between the verbal, visual and performing arts. Reflecting the beauty of all that lies inside, the architecture of the Bharat Bhavan itself shines like a beautiful diamond overlooking the Upper Lake. A number of different facilities are available at the disposal of the patrons of Bharat Bhavan.

Bharat Bhavan is an autonomous multi-arts complex and museum in Bhopal, India, established and funded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.The architect of Bhavan is Charles Correa. Opened in 1982, facing the Upper Lake, Bhopal, it houses an art gallery, a fine art workshop, an open-air amphitheatre, a studio theatre, an auditorium, a museum tribal and folk art, libraries of Indian poetry, classical music as well as folk music. Charles Correa the architect found here the possibilities of a series of terraced gardens, which would be seen cascading down to the lake. The visitors enter at the highest level and walk down a pedestrian spine, flanked by a pattern of courtyards, to reach the various parts of the complex. Each curve and space defines itself. Each of the part of the building is distinct yet flows easily one another, linked by meandering paths. The total effect is one of the surprise and pleasure. There is always a moment when the eye can rest and the mind contemplates.

ver it seems there were gaps as what were discussed with him and planned. We had a flight landing at 7 and when we visited hotel, the manager told us that the checkin would be at 12 pm. On calling the travel agent he said that the hotel arrangment is on the basis of availability. Ideally he should have told me earlier if this was the situation. Also his alignment with the cab agency was also not good. The cab agent was telling something and the travel agent said something else. I mean this kind of scenarios would have been avoided if they had a better planning before my visit. I bit disappointed with the experience I had this time. I have been travelling with travel triangle from quite some time and things have been great. Hoping to have better services in future.
