A beautiful lagoon, long stretches of white beach, and a brilliant house reef are just some attractions of the gorgeous Veligandu Island, lying on the Eastern rim of the Rasdhoo Atoll that is part of the Northern half of the Ari Atoll, Maldives. Encircled by an awe-inspiringly brilliant turquoise lagoon, this island indulges one's fantasy. Lush coconut palm trees cover the island, with Veligandu Island resorts tastefully constructed in between the greenery and along the lagoon.

Geography of Veligandu Island
Veligandu Island occupies a mere 22 acres in the entire Maldivian archipelago, but this 600-meters long and 150-meters wide island is a scenic delight. The whole island is operated as a resort and visitors are welcomed by a scenic flight that sets the pace for a holiday here.
Tourism on Veligandu Island
With the entire island being a resort, it is open to only adults (18+ years) and makes the perfect getaway. The resort is large enough for one to find their private space, yet small enough to feel still very much part of the Maldivian world. Idyllic settings set the mood for romance, with elegant villas situated above the lagoon, tastefully furnished to make one feel at peace with the world with the turquoise ocean stretching out into the distance.
Activities to Do at Veligandu Island
The island’s lagoon is the ideal spot for water sports including kayaking and windsurfing. Snorkeling, badminton, football and jet skiing are also popular here. To get a good glimpse of what lies beneath, one can opt for a round of diving, which is usually aided by the local dive center and is often conducted in groups. The house reef here is ideal for snorkeling and freshwater swimming pools are a boon for those who would just like to lays out and soak in some goodness.
Among the most popular places to visit on Veligandu Island is the Gift Shop which has a range of music CDs, swimwear, magazines, and artwork that one can pick up as souvenirs. There is an Over-Water-Spa that is the perfect spot to enjoy a sense of serenity, while the Dhonveli Buffet Restaurant satiates many an appetite with some of the most scrumptious cuisines ever! For the occasional bookworm, the local cyber cafe and library are spots worth visiting.
