Rose Garden in Chandigarh (2019)

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Chandigarh. Named after the former President of India, Dr. Zakir Hussain, the history of Rose Garden Chandigarh dates back to the year 1967 when its construction started. It is known for its lush green lawns and an extensive variety of flora.

Rose Garden in Chandigarh was supervised by the first Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh, Dr. M.S. Randhawa. Dr. Randhawa had a great interest in horticulture, history, art, and culture. He played a major role in establishing the city of Chandigarh and Rose Garden was a small part of his plan.

Spread across an area of 30 acres, Rose Garden in Chandigarh is claimed to be the largest rose garden. This huge garden features 50,000 rose bushes and more than 1600 different species. With such an extensive floral variety, this garden is a perfect place for nature lovers who get an opportunity to witness the charming beauty of nature. It is also a good place for a family outing where one can spend quality time with their near and dear ones.

This park also houses a Rose Garden art monument, an auditorium, and a statue of Dr. M.S. Randhawa. There is also a small book cafe inside the garden complex where the book collection of Dr. Randhawa has been put for display.

Apart from the varieties of roses, and unique attractions of the place, Rose Garden in Chandigarh is also famous for hosting a huge annual festival, known as Rose Festival. This festival is held every year at the end of February or the beginning of March and is celebrated with huge pomp and show. This is also the best time to visit the Rose Garden. So, if you happen to visit Chandigarh in February or March, do visit the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden to witness the celebrations of this festival.

Rose Festival is held every year in the last week of February. It is a 3 days show where you get to see a wide variety of colorful roses comprising of more than 800 varieties. The festival is held by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. The garden is located in sector 16 of Chandigarh and was built in the year 1967. Apart from roses, the garden even has medicinal plants. Pratik's 10 days trip to Himachal

Not too happy with the booking First the good parts: 1. Well-arranged trips, ample time to go around for seeing different places 2. Good hotels in Shimla, Manali, and Dalhousie. The views were amazing from all these hotels, and so were the rooms and the service. Special mention about the hotel in Dalhousie, beautiful place, amazing views and awesome food. The parents were very happy. 3. The driver was quite well mannered and had equally good driving skills Not so good and improvement areas: 1. The driver had very bad navigational skills, was uncooperative, especially when it came to asking for directions in a new place. It was strange as you would expect to get someone who will have good knowledge about the place where he goes almost regularly 2. This trip was customized which is why a lot of responsibility rested with the driver who was either unhelpful when it came to assisting or suggesting something to do, or was unaware of most of the things 3. The hotel in Chandigarh was unhygienic, one of the rooms had cockroaches roaming around, another had bedbugs and the third room was damp and smelled as if it always remains shut. My father had to stay up the entire night because of bed-bug bites 4. The hotel in Dharamshala was again old, dirty and unhygienic too. They tried to pass-off the water from the dish-cleaning area as drinking water. Rooms were shabby, blankets were worn out and dirty, furnishings were very old and shabbily kept. Not something you expect from an apparent 3 star hotel

Madhukar's 9 days trip to Spiti

We have planned for 8 day tour where Nikita our tour coordinator helped us booking the Trip Will divide the review into multiple parts so that it will help others to decide(Hotel, Food, Places, CAB, On Tour Support) CAB Lucky(Lalchand Bhatia) : knows every inch of Himachal and the vehicle is Innova Crysta and the best we can expect. itinerary was well communicated to Lucky and that we need not to worry about our schedule On Tour Support : Nikita, helped us to prepare ourselves for the travel before a day what to bring for wearing and all and gave good support during the journey providing quick support by coordinating with cab driver and changing the hotel in case of venue changes in the last minute. Hotels & Food Our trip is 8 days long and we almost stayed in 7 different hotels 1. Shimla --> Rajat Hotel (Food is decent but Not the hotel ) shimla is a good place and they can get better hotel 2. Sangla --> IBex Camp (Excellent view and decent food with the surrounding nothing to complain about) 3. Kalpa --> Tab Exotic, ( Decent hotel with Decent Food) 4. Tabo --> Sidharth (Nice hotel with Nice food ) 5. Kaza --> Spiti Valley -> (decent hotel with decent food) then can do little better here as its also big tourist place 6. Chandratal --> didnt stay in Tenzin camp due to heavy snow 7. Manali --> Mountain View --> Nice Hotel with Nice food 8. Chandigarh --> Hotel Oscar Regency --> (Worst hotel and worst food) we stayed for night room is full of alcohol and cigarette smell Overall : Its great trip, and on the last day we got the snow fall my kids enjoyed it a lot and its beautiful journey. Precautions: Food is only Parotha, Rice and Bread available mostly, as it takes a lot of journey if you are going towards spiti better keep some snacks of your own and some pickles in case you miss your home food

Kaushik's 6 days trip to Himachal

Just ended Chandigarh--Shimla-- Manali tour on the 10th of October. Trave triangle as usual like last year assigned Himanshu as my contact. He was very active , till I booked my holiday package with Travel Talkies. After that Himanshu vanished into thin air. That was very unkind, and derogatory to travel hospitality standards. But, Lata at Travel Talkies was just the opposite. She kept in touch with me before, during and after the tour. The hotels Moniker resort, Anchal Regency and the cab driver and guide was excellent. Though Moniker resorts, I can't agree to be of 4 stars, yet, they tried providing us good service. Food was plenty and excellent quality. Anchal Regency at Shimla was like my own home at Shimla. Dinesh received us personally in his own car from the hotel premises, just because the road was being constructed. Hardly a 2 minutes walk. Never ever, I have received such hospitality. Anchal of a mother is the most secure place in our society and Anchal Regency lived up to it's name. Food , service, beautiful room was our experience. Our guide cum pilot Pradeep Singh was fun to be with. He had friends every nook and corner of the entire journey, it seems. A very busy person as his phone kept on ringing, but he guided us amicably to the most wonderful Makki Ka roti with Dal and Kari at a roadside small dhaba to big joints at Murthal. Always on time, alert and with no rash driving at all. Never in a hurry, and never pushed us to hurry. At Rohtang pass my kids started developing frost bite, and he immediately put the heater on in the car even before I suggested him. That was very caring. Lata forgot to include Naggar in our cabbie's itinerary, though it was in mine. That was the only flaw in the entire fairy tale. But, we are all humans. To err is human, to forgive divine. So, I would not take away any stars from her. Thank you Lata, Pradeep , and Dinesh. Travel triangle , Himanshu may be a hardcore professional, but needs miles to go. Langar at Gurdwara in Manikeran and hot sulphur springs. Snow at Rohtang pass Horse ride at Kufri Dinesh and Hotel Anchal Regency. Pardipji my guide cum pilot Lataji at Travel Talkies Makki Ka roti, Dal with ghee and Kari at a small roadside dhaba.

The overall experience of the trip was awesome, the travel Agent Ambika effectively answered all our queries and was very helpful .the cab was good, driver was very kind and nice and only thing to comment about is the driver from Chandigarh to Delhi on the last day was demanding for money to visit the India gate which was already discussed and included in the itenary and also delayed for extra penny to drop us to airport since the terminal was changed last moment due to flight cancellation. Every moment was great, we enjoyed the SPITI valley And Rohtang pass.

Tanuj's 6 days trip to Himachal

This was a trip with friends for 7 days which included Shimla, kasol and manali. We all had some really good time during the trip but also some bad time. The best part of this journey was that we got a really cooperative driver and the vehicle was also good. The scenic beauty of himachal never stops to amaze you. Specially views at shimla, kasol and rohtang pass. We had a very bad experience at Kasol when the hotel incharge over there informed us that there is no electricity at hotel due some failure. They asked us to see alternative hotels which were very dirty and of low cost compared to what we had already paid. After travelling for almost 12 hours, we wasted 3 hours in looking for other hotel options. We called travel agency but they couldn’t do anything except talking. We had no option, so we had to stay at the same hotel we booked. The hotel could not provide us with basic amenities like toiletries, towels etc. At that moment I realized, never pay full amount untill your trip ends. TravelTriangle should take care of these things. We woke up in the morning and went to manikaran gurudwara. The hot water springs over there were amazing. The best part of the trip was rohtang pass and river rafting at manali. One thing which we felt gone wrong was that we came from Mumbai to Delhi and started our trip from delhi onwards. Instead we should have booked tickets from Mumbai to Chandigarh. If our trip start point and drop would’ve been from Chandigarh, it might have reduced 6 hours of Cab journey. We didn’t know this as it was our first trip to himachal. I wish our travel agent has informed us about this. Otherwise, it was a good experience overall. Hotel at manali was good. Hotel at shimla was too far and isolated from main city. Amenities were not that good. I already shared experience about hotel at kasol which was bad except for food which they served. Experience with Travel talkies was bad, as the agent who booked our ticket had quit the job and the manager was only interested in getting all the installments done asap. After getting paid, customer is of no use to them. Experience with TravelTriangle was also not as expected or as I have experienced in my earlier bookings . They should not limit themselves by just creating one Whatsapp group. They should take responsibility of all the payment releases and if agent doesn’t meet the expectations, action should be taken. They should ask agencies to check with hotels and cab at least one day before visitors arrival. Hope that TravelTriangle will try to address these issues so that customers won’t face a hard time during the trip.

Raviprasad's 9 days trip to Delhi

Manali, Delhi, Mathura, Agra & Jaipur. At Manali, 3N stay was totally disappointed due to waiting for driver (Om Prakash) for pickup from hotel for local sightseeing 3 to 4 hrs delay every day which impacted on our happiness, like that so many other nonsense experienced with driver due to non cooperation, etc...... In fact it was total loss for us & while return from Manali to Chandigarh on last day driver again started playing with us without proper cooperation. When we contact Mr. Naman from Travelloa holidays for the same. After so many discussions with driver, his mood changed. Finally we reached to Chandigarh. Hotel Monarch Residency at Manali was not wrathful, no proper maintenance. We felt happy by visiting Rohtangpass with our own. Except this everything in Manali trip was irritated us. Travelloa holidays excused for the same & trying to resolve by arranging compensation for the loss? Delhi, Mathura, Agra & Jaipur trip was awesome. We spent quality time & enjoyed trip due to proper guidance of driver ( Thankful to Mr. Pawan) & hotel stays. My understanding on travelloa holidays is they are good towards Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, may be other places....but definitely they don`t have right agents at Manali. Thanks to Travel triangle & travelloa holidays for memorable trip.

We had our Himachal trip for 6N 7D. We reached Chandigarh on 16th March, 2019 from where our cab (Innova Crysta) picked us. Starting from Chandigarh and end at Delhi was a really nice trip. Sachin from Summit Safari was really helpful at the time of prepare trip. Our driver Govind Thakur, a genuine and well behaved person, was very punctual. Thanks Sachin for all your effort.

Mahendra's 6 days trip to Himachal

I had booked Shimla - Manaali six days tour with North India Tours & Travels. From the starting there were trouble with agency. I was asked to contact Mr. Neeraj Negi for driver details. I had followed him four times over phone but he didn't provide the proper details. I got three drivers number and had to call all of them to know who will pick me up from Chandigarh. Once driver was fixed, he asked me to leave from Chandigarh early (though I didn't want it) in the morning because he was in Chandigarh that evening and he wanted to return early. when I called Neeraj Negi to know if Hotel room will be available if I reach early, he was blunt and said will you check out early if you are checking in early. Taxi and hotel coordination was his job but I was doing it and he was playing boss role. while travelling to Shimla, taxi driver (Prakash) informed me that he is not from North India tour travel. Taxi driver on day one left without informing. raised the issue on Travel triangle whatsapp group but no help was offer either by travel triangle or Neeraj Negi. During the travel, I had four different drivers (Prakash, Sanjay, Ajay, Raju) and on each day I had to coordinate with these drivers. No professionalism at all. Although, I was informed that I will have single driver through out the tour. while returning from Manaali around 1 PM during the day we were passing through planes (Sundar Nagar, Bilaspur etc) and temperature was 37 deg C and dust outside. requested driver to switch on the AC but he hadn't. this is despite the fact that we were descending from hills or travelling in plane areas. This driver (Ajay) had to pick client from Chandigarh therefore he had asked us to start early from Manaali, which I agreed to. I had to skip the breakfast because of him but when we requested him to switch on the AC, he straight forward denied it. No support from North India tour travel . Only good thing in this trip was hotel in Manaali (Himalayan heights), which is newly built and well maintained. view from this hotel is quite good and it has apple orchard within it's boundary.
