About Lion Safari at Chhatbir Zoo in Chandigarh
Chhatbir Zoo is among the largest zoological gardens in North India that is situated close to Zirakpur, 17 km from Chandigarh. Also known as the Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park, the zoo was constructed in the 1970s. Sprawling across 202 acres of land, Chhatbir Zoo, Zirakpur is home to approximately 103 species of rare and endangered animals, reptiles and birds. Chhatbir Zoo in Chandigarh paints a magnificent picture of the underlying ecological harmony that enhances the charm of beautiful surroundings. The animals are kept in open enclosures so that their behavioral and physical needs can be met akin to their natural habitat.
