About Karni Mata Mandir (Deshnok), Bikaner
The Karni Mata Temple in Bikaner, popularly known as The Rat Temple of Rajasthan, is one of the unique attractions to visit. The temple lies in the village of Deshnok about 30 km from Bikaner.
History of Karni Mata Temple (Rat Temple)
A famous folklore has it that Karni Mata turned into a rat after she died, and now so do all her followers, who are known as the Charin. It is believed that when anybody from the Charin clan dies, they turn into a rat, and come to the temple to live their life till they die again to be reincarnated into a human being. And thus, the cycle continues. Similarly, there are several other stories that explain the history and origin of the Rat Temple in Bikaner.
