History of Karni Mata Temple (Rat Temple)
A famous folklore has it that Karni Mata turned into a rat after she died, and now so do all her followers, who are known as the Charin. It is believed that when anybody from the Charin clan dies, they turn into a rat, and come to the temple to live their life till they die again to be reincarnated into a human being.
