About Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary in Chittorgarh
Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the best places to visit in Chittorgarh. Stretching over to the western border of Vindhyachal Mountain Ranges, Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary is a nature reserve in an area of about 150 square kilometer. The forest cover area is dry and deciduous and have flora that can survive the dry weather like butea, churel, dhok etc. Various varieties of medicinal and flowering plants are also found here. Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary has a great and an exotic variety of fauna like wild boar, langur, four-horned antelopes, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, etc. It is also home to a variety of birds like whistling duck, hawks, eagles etc.
Forest Department offers jeep safari at the sanctuary so that the tourists can enjoy sightseeing of animals without any fear and can have a clear view of them. It is a perfect spot for someone who loves photography and nature. There is an area inside the forest that gives clear views of the forest from the top. The Bassi sanctuary was declared a nature reserve in the year 1988 and became a tourist spot since then.
Located just 5 m from Bassi Fort Palace and in close proximity to Orai and Bassi Dams, Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary can easily be visited by bus or car. These dams are also used by animals who roam freely in their natural habitat for drinking purposes. Camping is not allowed at the sanctuary to protect the natural habitat of the animals and for safety reasons. Photography is allowed, so make sure to keep your camera handy every time so that you do not miss out any opportunity to click amazing pictures.
