About Meera Temple in Chittorgarh

Nestled in the premises of the magnificent Chittorgarh Fort, Meera Temple is the only temple dedicated to the Rajput princess- Meera Bai, who devoted her entire life to Lord Krishna. Beautifully carved, this striking temple is meant to catch your attention without a fail. Built by the then king- Rajput Kumbha, this temple has both religious and historical significance, making it one of the most visited attractions in Chittorgarh. As you visit the enticing temple, its spiritual ambience is going to fill you with the utmost tranquility and happiness, while the stories of the devotion of Meera may leave you with a completely unique experience, which is unmatchable!

History of Meera Temple

The Meera Bai ka Mandir, as it is fondly called, was constructed by the then king- Rana Kumbha. Meera- a Rajput princess- was madly in love with Lord Krishna, and she devoted her entire life to him. Maharaja Kumbha built this shrine, so as to let Meera Bai worship Lord Krishna in the city of Chittorgarh. There are various other Hindu temples that were built by the emperor in the historical city.

Attractions of Meera Temple

Drawing a huge number of tourists, the spectacular Meera Bai Temple has Indo-Aryan style of architecture, which again makes it one of the best places to explore for a cultural experience. The main highlight of this temple is the statue of five human bodies with one head, which symbolizes that there exists no difference between the people of different caste and creed. The temple houses a splendid statue of Lord Krishna, while its outer area has a chhatri, where you can find the footprints of Meera Bai’s teacher- Raidas.

Stay at Jaigarh palace, Hospitality at Heritage Juma camp, Heavenly breeze at Vyas chatri, Journey from Jaisalmer to Sand dunes (thanks to Man Singhji), Kuldhara village a must visit place.
