About Moti Dungri Temple in Jaipur

Moti Dungri Temple is a Hindu Temple which as Lord Ganesha as the main deity. It is located in Jaipur, one of the most popular cities in the state of Rajasthan. The temple has immense importance in the Hindu religion and is visited by lakhs of devotees every year. The construction of the Moti Dungri temple was completed in the year 1761 under the guidance of Seth Jai Ram Palliwal.

Locals of the area quote a story about Moti Dungri temple in Jaipur that in the 17th century, King of Mewar while returning from a journey in a bullock was having the statue of Lord Ganesha in his lap. He said that wherever his bullock would stop, he will construct a temple there. Fortunately, the bullock stopped at the Dungri Hill and hence the temple was constructed there and was named after the hill only.

It is believed that the idol of Lord Ganesha in this temple is around 500 years old and was brought from Udaipur which in turn was brought to Udaipur from Gujarat. The location of the temple is very scenic as it has been constructed on the Moti Dungri Hill which from all sides is bordered by Moti Dungri Fort. Moti Dungri Temple also has a lingam apart from the idol of Ganesha but this Lingam is open for devotees only once a year on the day of Mahashivratri. The temple is built adjacent to the famous Birla Mandir below the Moti Dungri Fort and the construction of the temple has been inspired from the Scottish Castle model. The temple is built in the Nagara style. It took around 4 months for the construction of the temple and use of limestones and marble has been done in its construction.

The best time to visit Moti Dungri in Jaipur is on Wednesday as a small fair takes place here every Wednesday. But if you would like to avoid crowd then we would suggest you to go to the temple any day of the week except Wednesday as it is pretty crowded on this day.

Would be the person to have for service for any trips in Jaipur. Regarding agent, only thing that was not clear was the coverage or safari in package which was not updated till last minute had to book ourself. The agreement was to have end to end covered in package and quotation shared. But realised that safari was not covered only on the day of arrival at Ranthambore for stay. Luckily it was taken care by the hotel person and agent co-ordination. In all the trip was very well organised. Agents should be in constant touch to discuss on day today progress rather customer getting in touch. Minor follow ups, small small things matter a lot and makes a huge difference for customer satisfaction. Memories: We were late back from Ranthambore and missed chowki dhani on that day, Anand Singh ensured we do not miss anything and covered all the places planned to visit by replanning and covering all that was planned. The most memorable was arranging of Guide Ashok who was humble and knowledged person fit for the position of guiding the palace, Anand on fly arranged and ensured we did not miss anything in palace and it was memorable.
